Chapter 3

        I watched it for a while, laughing at some parts. Before I knew it time had past and I'd watched the whole season. The clock read 12:30 and I was quite surprised. It felt like I had just gotten home. I sighed and decided that since it was late that I would attempt to sleep.

I layed there for a few minutes thinking about random things like that one embarrassing thing i did when I was 3. The whole room was silent, and I was lost in my thoughts. Something broke the silence. It caused me to jump in surprize. It was just my phone. I rolled over and pawed at my bed till I found where it lay. Once I had it I read the number. It was Amelia's mom. I found it kinda odd. She never called me, it was only Amelia who did. Though it was unexpected I answered it. "Hello?" "Hi, is this Katie?" "Yes, yes thats me." "I-I need to speak to you." there was a sad tone to her voice and it quivered as it spoke. "Do you want me to come over?" "Oh, uh yeah I'll be down there to pick you up soon." After I heard her answer wrote a note explaining where I was and left it on my bedside table. Then I waited outside for my ride.

A small black car, the one belonging to Amelia's mom pulled up to my drive way, and I entered it. She drove out of the driveway and began to drive off. We sat in silence for a few seconds , before I started conversation. "So, um what's up, what did you want to tell me?" She paused before replying. "I'll tell you once we're there". I was growing more curious by the minute. After a while it seemed like the ride was taking longer than usual and it didn't seem like we were going to her house so I decided to say something. "So where are we going?" "Er you'll see, we're almost there." Her answer filled me to the bone with so much curiosity.

She pulled the car into a big parking lot, which belonged to a bg building. It was the hospital. She parked the car and got out so I did too. She began to walk towards one of the entrances and I followed her lead. She stopped at one of the main desks and said "Help, I'm Amelia's mom. Er Amelia Smith." She began to have tears forming at her eyes as she finished her sentence. "Could you please direct me to where she is at?" The lady typed in the name and found her information. She paused before informing her where she was at. "She will be in room 78 in hall B. If you take a right over there." She pointed to the right hall. "Then a left at the first turn you will find her room." Her mom nodded then me and her both followed her instructions. Once we found the room her mom went into the room and I followed close behind.

The room was lightly lit by a lamp in the corner of the room. In the middle of the room I saw something that made my knees wobbly and my heart drop to my stomach. It was so horrifying. In the middle of the room laid Amelia on a bed sleeping calmly. There were many wires attached to her. It was absolutely terrible. She didn't look right, she didn't seem like she was even alive.

"Wh-what happened to her?" Her mom was sitting in one of the chairs in tears. She mumbled the words trying not to cry as she spoke. "She tried to overdose. At the moment she is in a coma due to all of the medicine... An-and the doctors don't know if she is going to survive." My breathing turned uneven when I heard her say that. I didn't reply. I just sat on the cold ground staring at her hoping for her to wake. She didn't though. She just laid there. The only sound in the room was her mother's muffled whimper and the beeping of a machine next to her.
