CHIOMEE MENDEZ
Caligo City is really something.
Mahigit tatlong linggo na ako sa Academia de Caligo. Within my stay, a lot of weird things had happened.
Una, biglang nawala si Erika. Ni hindi ko siya matawagan sa kaniyang cellphone. It turns out she transferred schools. Ni hindi pa siya naka isang linggo dito sa Academia de Caligo, lumipat na agad siya.
Second, this so called Jack the Ripper terrorized the city. Kamakailan lang ay apo ng director ang biktima nito. Ayon sa mga nabasa ko sa diyaryo, this serial killerʼs method of killing is gouging the eyes and heart out of the body. Madalas daw ay iniiwan nito ang biktima niya sa Ivory Chapels.
Lastly, tila mas dumami ang nakapaligid na guwardiya sa Academia de Caligo. Malamang ay dahil ito sa lumalaganap na chismis tungkol sa Jack the Ripper. Baka nga, iyon rin ang rason ng paglipat ni Erika ng eskwelahan.
"Good morning, Chiomee!"
Napalingon ako sa pinanggalingan ng matinis na boses na iyon. I saw a girl waving towards me. It was Zen Sieltiel, behind her are some of my classmates.
"Come and sit with us!"
Lumapit siya sa akin at saka niya hinawakan ang braso ko. She had a huge smile on her face. Zen Sieltiel was by far the friendliest in the class. Halos lahat ay kinakausap niya.
I donʼt mind it at all.
She was really kind enough to let me join them. Noong unang linggo pa lang namin, niregaluhan niya ako ng keychain. She frequently gossips to me as well. Mukhang matagal na siya dito sa Academia de Caligo kaya alam niya ang mga nangyayari.
Ayoko rin ang mag-isa. At first thought, I had dreadful premonitions about schools run by the rich. Noong una ay iniisip ko ang posibleng social class issues.
Sino ba naman ako para makihalubilo sa mga kagaya nila?
They were extremely rich. That fact is undeniably evident. They were raised like monarchs with everything given to them on a whim.
I was just a commoner and yet, here they are.
"Good morning, Chiomee!" bati ng mga kasama niya nang mapalapit ako. Naroroon sina Khan, Merwin, Nawal, at Jeslyre.
New found friends? Iʼd like to take it that way. Quite a bunch they are, I have to admit.
Zen Sieltiel, as Iʼve heard from them, is the heiress to Sieltiel Oil Corporation. It has never occurred to me that this girl was one of the bigshots. Chismis ng karamihan ay mataas ang posisyon ng pamilya niya sa Black Society. Siya mismo ay miyembro rin ng organization.
Khan Minoza, I know so little about him. Ang kwento ni Zen, siya raw ay anak ng dating heneral dito sa Caligo City. Masungit at tahimik, but still gets along despite that.
