Mud

There used to be many things that I could do.
I could sing like the girls on the radio,
I could look like a Disney princess,
I could make friends with anyone,
I could be well-liked.

But that was when I played in the mud.
When things were not as clear
As they are now,
Obscured by the dirt I would trail around carelessly on the white tiles of my mother's clean floor.
My soft hands would sink into cool sodden ground,
And I believed that anything I
left there
was a seed
that would flourish.
There was so much potential,
When I played in he mud.
