----------------------------------WARNING!!!---------------------------------------
I am a die-hard Sophitz fan at times, and this is one of those times... ish. Its pretty prominent, so... Sorry all you SoKeefe shippers.
Sophie
"Sophie?" Amy whispered, her face full of confusion, but euphoric at the same time.
There was a moment of silence that seemed to last forever, until Sophie mumbled "Yes, it's me."
Sophie's breath caught in her throat, and she almost forgot to breathe. So many thoughts and memories crashed through Sophie's head.Amy smirking at her when she came home late after the field trip to the museum.
Amy on the couch as Natalie, with her mom and dad.
Mom and dad. Sophie thought, as she felt pangs of sadness. They had come so close. So close, to finally being able to reunite with her family. Mom. Dad. Sophie thought again.
She didn't realize everything got dim, and she was falling until Fitz caught her.
"Its okay, Sophie. Its okay. We'll find them soon." He said, stroking her hair. Sophie just cried. She forgot about everyone else until she felt a pair of arms that was not Fitz's embrace her.
"Don't worry Soybean. I'm here." came Amy's soft voice, not at its usual loud volume.
"Amy." Sophie whispered again as she hugged her sister tightly. "I should be comforting you right now."
"No. Its okay. We can comfort each other." And they both cried, their tears falling on each other. Sophie didn't know how long they sat there. Seconds, minutes, hours, it just blended together. But when Sophie did look up, she saw that her faithful friends were still there.
Alden's reassuring smile, the one that made Sophie feel important.
Keefe's eyes full of hope, that said everything will be alright.
Sandor's hands, full of power, but gentle, that made Sophie feel safe.
But most of all, Fitz. His embrace made Sophie forget about the Neverseen, and made her feel loved.
Alden tapped Sophie's arm, and that jolted her back to reality. "We need to get going. The Neverseen might come back. Amy can spend the night at Havenfield tonight. Then she come to Everglen with us. I don't have a nexus, so you'll have to focus all your concentration on her." Alden explained as he pulled out his leaping crystal.
Amy grabbed Sophie's hand, and they all grabbed hands to form a circle. Fitz hesitantly reached for Amy's, but Amy slapped it away.
"No. I'm not holding hands with a complete stranger!" She screeched.
Sophie sighed. "Introductions...right. Sorry Amy. I, uh, forgot. This is Keefe, the blonde guy, that's Alden, the tall one, the goblin over there is Sandor, and this is Fitz." Sophie said, gesturing to each one. When she got to Sandor, Amy screamed.
"SSH!" Sophie exclaimed, clamping a hand over her sister's mouth.
"Sorry! But what is... that?" Amy asked, her eyes filled with wonder.
" 'That' is an actual living thing that can hear what you're saying." Came Sandor's annoyed response.
"Sandor!" Sophie hissed.
"Fine. I'm a goblin. Sophie's bodyguard." Sandor explained. "As a bodyguard, I'm trained in mar-"
"Introductions are nice and all, but we really have to go." Alden interrupted, as he lined the crystal up to the correct facet.
"Where are we going? Shouldn't we leave out the front do-" Amy asked.
"We're going to my house. I'll explain everything when we get there." Sophie interrupted, just as Alden held up the crystal to the light, and they all glimmered away.
Sophie tried to focus her concentration on Amy so she wouldn't lose any on her, but a headache flared. It was so intense that Sophie felt like someone was squeezing her brain. Sophie screamed. She couldn't hold on. It was too dificult.
Then she let go... spiraling away into the void. Fitz's shocked expression being the thing she last saw.
