Back to the Bakery

*Katniss's POV*

We went outside and waited for Haymitch to get ready.

A few minutes later, he came out wearing a nice grey t-shirt and jeans.

"Ready?" I asked.

"Yup."

"Okay, let's go." Peeta said.

About ten minutes later, we arrived, and Peeta unlocked the bakery door. As we walked in, we could smell the cake baking. It was obviously almost done.

"Mmm, smells good." Haymitch said. "Can I have some when it's done?"

"Sure." Peeta smiled. "But I think Katniss wants to decorate it."

"When did Katniss become good at baking?"

"I didn't." I said smiling. "I just have a surprise for Peeta, involving the icing." We chuckled.

Peeta have me blue, red, orange, green, and white icings, along with candies, to decorate the cake with.

"Alright, now I need some privacy. Out!" I said to both of them.

"Fine." Peeta said smiling.

"But I'm your mentor. I have the right to see what you're making." Haymitch said jokingly.

"Out!" I raised my voice, lauginng.

"I want to know what it is! Katniss, you have to tell me." Haymitch said, almost whining like a child.

"No," I said, trying not to laugh at his childish pleas. "If I tell you, it won't be a surprise, and besides, this is for Peeta, not you."

The main reason I didn't want Haymitch to know wasn't exactly because of these reasons, but because it was a private thing. It was me showing Peeta how much I really care for him, and I didn't want Haymitch making fun of us or calling us the "star-crossed lovers" again. In fact, I realized I didn't want him there at all at the moment.

"Haymitch, if you go home now, I will bring you some cake, and tell you what the surprise was. It won't interest you much anyway." I said, hoping he'd be convinced.

"Ugh, fine!" He said, partly angered, partly smiling, "It better be a lot of cake." He walked out the door.

I realized Peeta was still standing there, so I said "Come on, you. Out! I'll tell you when it's ready!" I pushed him out the door, and he was laughing.
