I shift my from head side to side, still sandwiched in between my covers.
I groan, was someone really knocking on the door this early. It's been like the hundredth time this has happened to me.
Who would be knocking on the front door at 9am?
I drag my body out of bed, still in my black and pink striped pajama's, and rush myself downstairs.
I open the door to reveal Mitch and Jerome. They nod, walking into the house.
"Why are you guys here so early?" I groan.
"Why aren't you dressed?!" Mitch asks.
"Why are you here?" I repeat, following them in.
"Camille, didn't anyone tell you..?" Jerome replies.
"No! I just woke up, what are you guys talking about?"
"We're going to Disneyland."
"Right now?"
"In an hour," Jerome says, setting himself on the sofa.
"Are you guys high?" I squeal, a smile creeping up on my face.
Mitch just laughs and Jerome ignores me.
"Go get dressed."
"Fine," I sigh.
Once I haul myself upstairs, I picked out an outfit.
I decided on jean shorts and a red mid-waist crop top with a white lace bandeau underneath. I brushed through my chestnut brown hair, letting it flow down to my back.
I walk into the bathroom, setting myself in front of the mirror and lightly do my makeup.
And before heading down, I grab my socks and vans, then trudge back to Mitch and Jerome.
"Is anyone else coming?" I ask, slipping my shoes on.
"They're going to meet us there."
I nod, following them outside and into the backseat of the car. The engine starts and in a matter of seconds, we were off to Disneyland.
~~~~~~~~~~
The car came to a halt, and finally I noticed we arrived. We all got out of the car and headed on our way towards the gate, Mitch leading. I follow, puzzled behind them. We got through, handing our tickets in and I ended up gazing at the rides towering over us. The scent of soft pretzels and popcorn filled the air, completing the welcoming atmosphere.
I look up and my heart begins to race, while my stomach erupts with butterflies.
Before me, stood the Disneyland Castle.
I was here. I was really here. I've always wanted to come, not only for the rides, but for the scenery, the fireworks, everything.
My mental babbling was cut off by Jerome snapping his fingers in front of my face.
"Huh?" I shake my head.
"Earth to Camille? Hello?" Jerome pauses, "Where do you want to go first?"
"Oh, I-I don't know, anywhere," I stutter, not knowing what to say.
"Helpful," he laughs, pulling a map out and telling Mitch the rides he wanted to try.
"Yeah," I hear Mitch reply, "it's over here."
I sigh, watching them lead the way, as I just followed like a lost puppy.
As we finally found The Twilight Zone, and waited throughout the 45-minute line, until it was finally our turn to buckle up.
I take a seat next to Mitch, sitting the the far left side of the row, as we waited for the ride to begin.
"Mitch," I whispered, but he didn't answer. He was far more interested in the Twilight Zone Video playing on the screen in front of us.
"Mitch," I tried again, tugging on his sleeve.
Without even glancing in my direction, he murmurs a quiet 'shhh.'
I sighed, hopelessly giving up. Mitch and Jerome convinced me to accompany them and now I was regretting it.
I didn't like anything about this ride. There wasn't even one safe aspect in sight.
Suddenly, the film shut off and the lights flickered. The ride was beginning.
I let out a small shriek in fear, as I clung my arm to Mitch's.
He let out a slight laugh, as the car started hurling downward.
~~~~~~~~~~
"AGAIN," I laugh, stepping out of the car.
The ride was finally over, and I was screaming the whole way through. It was stunning, everything about it.
"I thought you hated it," Jerome says, raising his eyebrows.
"Nah! Let's go again, please!" I smile, begging both of them.
"Not now, the lines even longer than before," Mitch sighs.
I groan, "then what are we doing now?"
Jerome points to a theater titled, 'Lights, Camera, Action.'
"Is it like a show?" I ask.
"Let's find out," Jerome answers.
"Okay," Mitch and I say in unison, as we walk in that direction.
We finally found seats after about 20 minutes of searching the auditorium. I plop down beside Mitch and Jerome.
In that instant, the lights dimmed and I could hear the sound of curtains drawing open. I placed my phone in my lap, and let my eyes fall on the man speaking to the crowd of people.
"Oh my god, he's on fire; Mitch," I pause stunned, "holy shit the man's on fire.." I trailed off.
Mitch had the biggest smile on his face, as he openly laughed at my statement.
"He's wearing a fire suit, I promise, it's just special effects."
I pout, hitting him playfully on the arm, "Mitch! Don't ruin it for me."
My eyes trailed onto Mitch, then back onto the stage, where another man appeared out of nowhere..
~~~~~~~~~~
The curtains hauled themselves shut, as everyone started cramming themselves out of the auditorium.
"Can we go find Max now?" I ask, lightly pushing Jerome out of the way.
"Sheesh, can't go an hour without your boyfriend?" Jerome snapped, smiling.
"No, I just-well-you guys are boring."
They just laughed at my comment, ignoring me completely.
"Absolute bullshit," Mitch says.
I groaned, "can you at least call him?"
Mitch sighed, dialing Max's number on his phone.
"Hey.. Yeah.. We're by the-" he paused, looking left and right, "Alice in Wonderland Teacup Ride.. Mhm.. Alright, see you soon."
"So? What'd he say?" I ask, as Mitch slides his phone back into his pocket.
"They're coming right now."
My eyes gleamed and I smiled, I couldn't wait to spend the rest of the day with Max.
