"Wanda, you are not even trying to fight me."
Wanda panted, leaning against the wall heavily as Faerie stood in front of her with her arms crossed. They had just had several battles of mind and willpower, Wanda losing all of them. It had been a few weeks since Faerie's visit to the Ocean, and as soon as she returned, she had taken on the role of Wanda's mentor, along with Vision.
Steve was supervising, worried something might happen to Wanda. He had a gut feeling about Faerie and it wasn't good. It made him hesitate in trusting the goddess, who had proven her loyalty multiple times.
"Faerie, I think you're being too harsh," he said, frowning at Faerie's words. "She's doing her best."
"No, I am not. If she wants to learn, she will learn. However, she must at least put in the effort to first," Faerie said blankly, but not unkindly. Wanda stood straight, her hand against the wall, still breathing heavily. Faerie looked at her, a concerned look crossing her face before it wiped away to show her impassive face again. Steve observed, growing angry.
"You're being harsh on her, Faerie. She's just a kid!"
"No, Steve. It's alright." Wanda had barely caught her breath when Faerie attacked her again, her black wisps firing forward and Wanda just managed to deflect them with her own bright red ones.
"Fight me, Wanda." Her voice was eerily calm, unstrained from the strenuous work put on her mind. Wanda was already pushing her limit, and she didn't understand how Faerie expected her to hurt her. "Come on, Wanda. Let it help you. Do not oppress it. Cooperate with it."
Wanda didn't understand. What if she lost control? What would happen then? Who would be there to take control?
"Do not be afraid of it, Wanda. I am here to help you. Along with Vision."
When Wanda's position in the fight didn't change, Faerie decided the kind route wouldn't work.
"Come on, Wanda! Open your eyes! You are weak! A stupid, insignificant little thing with no hope of conquering your demons! Do something!" Faerie snarled, eyes darkening.
Wanda let out a sob, and Faerie gave one more little push and was suddenly thrown back, but she caught herself before she collided with the wall. She smiled evilly and threw herself forward.
Wanda had finally retaliated.
The two's attacks were merciless, both uncaring of any pain they may be inflicted upon the other, as they knew the other was strong enough to endure it. Steve didn't know what to do. Wanda was showing progress, but it was too much at once. Vision entered the room, hearing the commotion and joined Steve at the side.
"She has made progress," he pointed out, watching the two women exchange blows.
"Yeah, no kidding," Steve replied.
Faerie's eyes were pitch black, and her teeth were bared angrily. Wanda's eyes shone red, her face scrunched in concentration. Steve furrowed his brows, however, when he saw a thick black liquid making its way down Faerie's nose.
