"Dada!" Hyun yelled from her room.
"Yes, princess?" Jin called back from the kitchen where he was making lunch. He'd learned that Hyun's favorite meal was macaroni and cheese accompanied by chicken nuggets.
"Will you play with me?" The four-year-old yelled once again down the hallway.
"I can't right now sweetie, I'm sorry. But lunch is almost ready, could you go get Dad from his studio?"
"Okay!"
"But Hyun, please don't surprise him again." Jin warned his daughter, who almost gave Namjoon a heart attack the day before when she entered the studio. He was immersed in a song and Hyun entered quietly and stood in the doorway for a couple of minutes before her father noticed her. He almost shot straight out of his office chair as the tiny human in the doorway stared at him.
Hyun skipped down the hallway, stopping at the door that belonged to her father's studio. She learned quickly that he spent a lot of his time in that room, which meant less play time with her.
She knocked on the large door loudly three times before twisting open the brass knob. Namjoon had spun his chair in the direction of her and instantly smiled as their eyes met.
"Hello, cutie what's up?" Namjoon asked, motioning for Hyun to sit in his lap. She gladly excepted and crawled up onto his legs. Namjoon's lap was becoming one of her favorite places.
"Dada wanted me to tell you that lunch is ready. And I wanted to play." Hyun explained, becoming fascinated by all the switches on the desk in front of her.
"Lunch already? Sounds good to me." Namjoon scooped Hyun up in his arms as he stood, exiting the studio and placing Hyun in her booster seat at the kitchen table. She wouldn't need it soon at the rate she was growing, she was so close to being able to reach the table.
"I made your favorite!" Jin cheered, placing a purple fairy plate containing her lunch in front of her.
"Please tell me you made din-"
"Yes, Joon. Of course, I made dinosaur chicken nuggets." Jin chuckled, placing a similar meal in front of his boyfriend. Only Namjoon's food was on a 'grown up' plate. Not that he was much of a grown up sometimes.
"I knew I had a good taste in men."
"And chicken nuggets apparently." Jin rolled his eyes, joining his family at the table and looking at them lovingly devour their lunches.
"Like father like daughter."
"Dada."
"Hyun."
"I wanna build a fort."
"A fort?"
"Yeah Dada, a fort. Out of pillows and blankets and stuff. Then we can color in it." Hyun said, looking at him like this was the most obvious thing in the world.
"I think that sounds like an amazing idea. Maybe we can even convince Dad to bring his laptop out and sit in the fort with us." Jin suggested.
"If he's going to play in it, he has to help build it." Hyun looked at her fathers with a serious expression.
"As long as I can finish this song for Uncle Yoongi so he doesn't yell at me." Namjoon said.
"Uncle Yoongi's always grouchy." Hyun stated.
"Wow. She really is our child."
_____
"This is amazing!" Hyun screamed as Jin and Namjoon put the roof on their pillow fort. Namjoon constructed most of it, Jin cleaning up from lunch. Hyun swore she helped but she spent most of the time trying to decide between which of two stuffed animals to bring in the fort. Jin suggested to bring both and the small girl had a revelation.
"Now we just need to fill it with blankets and pillows to make it more comfortable." Jin said, Hyun racing off to her room and returning with her arms full of anything fluffy she could find.
"Oh! I forgot the coloring books!" She ran again, this time coming back with a bucket of coloring materials.
"You can have the princess coloring book, Dada. And the sparkly crayons. I know those ones are your favorite."
The three of them sat in the fort for a few hours, Hyun leaning on Namjoon for support while Jin sat cross-legged across from her and colored. Namjoon's legs hung out of the fort after Hyun explained that he was 'just too big' to fit at first. He wrote his lyrics, enjoying the time out of his studio spent with his family. Every moment he could spend with them was precious.
Hyun eventually fell asleep between her fathers, curled up with her baby doll. Jin took the batteries out three days after they got it. It wouldn't stop crying. Now they just tell her she has the best-behaved baby in the world, which is why it never cried. She bought it thankfully.
"She's sleeping." Jin closed his coloring book with a sigh.
"We did a pretty great job on this fort." Namjoon commented, looking up from his laptop momentarily to smile at Jin.
"It's kinda romantic if you think about." Jin suggested, "Wanna make out?"
"Fuck yeah, get over here."
