Read at your own caution.}You sighed as you slunk down the street towards Grillby's. The restaurant/bar your crush owned. To say you liked the flame monster would be putting it lightly, you absolutely adored him. From his quiet-demeanor to his strong build, everything about him you loved. However, even though you were close to him, you knew he would never feel the same away about you. Grillby was entirely devoted to his restaurant, and he never showed personal interest in anything else. Even his closest friend, Sans didn't know what the guy did on his spare time. Yet still, that didn't stop you from dreaming.
Slightly it began to rain just as you made it inside Grillby's, and you smiled at your luck. Although, the rain would be a nightmare to walk in once you had to go home. Which hopefully wasn't anytime soon. You passed both humans and monsters alike as you headed to your favorite stool at the bar. When Grillby opened his restaurant Aboveground the place became popular instantly, and both species loved to eat Grillby's food. Smiling softly, you sat down and looked at the menu. You mostly did it out of ritual, since you practically ordered the same thing every time.
Grillby probably already got started on your usual order when you walked through the door anyways. Just as predicted, minutes later, Grillby placed [fav. food] in front of you. You smiled and nodded at him, and he nodded back before turning to do something else.
Sometimes words weren't needed to describe gratitude.
Suddenly, you felt somebody sit onto the stool at your right, and you knew it was Sans even before you looked up from your food.
"What's up, [y/n]?" He said in his low, rough voice.
"Hmm, not much, I'm just heading back home from my English Class." You said as you took a drink of water that had been placed out for you.
"Man, I never see you anywhere but college and here. You must live in your work." You watched as Grillby walked towards you two and leaned against the counter. Sans then proceeded to keep talking. "Seriously though, don't work yourself to death. Learn to live a little would you?"
"Just because I'm not a lazy bone like you doesn't mean I'm not enjoying life." You replied, and Sans instantly smiled at your skeleton pun. "Some of us actually like work, ya know?" You turned and gave a smile at Grillby who seemed to nod at your statement.
"You two need to chill your bones more." Sans said with a wink, and you rolled your eyes. "Can I have a hamburger tonight Grillby?"
Grillby nodded and went to prepare his food in the back room."So how's you and the flame man going?" Sans asked with a grin, and you nearly spit out your drink.
"W-what are you talking about Sans?" You asked looking at him. "It isn't like we're together or anything!"
"Surrreeeee, you're not." Sans said with a chuckle. "But if you don't want anybody knowing, you should probably be less obvious."
"I-is it really that obvious that I like him?" You asked feeling a blush grow across your cheeks.
"From the way you blush around him, stutter each time he address you, and let's not forget the fact you practically drool each time you look at his body? It's kinda obvious kid." Sans replied.
"Do you...do you think he knows?" You asked looking down at the food on your plate.
"Nah, Grillby's oblivious to anything besides his work. Besides, from what I'm reading into, it might be he likes you too." Sans said with a thumbs up. But before you could ask him what he meant, Grillby was already returning with his order. You tried to keep your attention towards your food. Was it really possible that Grillby liked you back? Could it be that this crush wasn't a total waste of time?
