Rhapsody

For eons now, since Pan first shaped the flute,

To give our race the gifts of song and dance,

Poets and bards have remained in pursuit

of perfect notes and rhymes to enchant.

Music uplifts the soul, always inspires

True harmonies will cheer a sullen mind;

Visions appear to ignite creative fires,

To see beyond the veil of human kind.

Like fallen angels without harps we soar,

When hearing choirs of cherubs in a church;

These hymns that stir the soul, we ache for more

Such holy sounds to spark this divine search.

We want to find soul comfort in a song:

In rhythms and the colours of the tones,

of sorrows sung 'bout love that has gone wrong,

In the lyrics of a lonely heart that moans.

Dreams and passions of two lovers rapt

Compose the rhapsodies, which soar in flights

To spheres unknown, celestial, unmapped,

Where Amadeus found the notes and heights.

Seek music in your life-- the harmony;

the memories of songs are time's refrain;

In music hear God's voice--a symphony--

listen with your heart and soul unchained.
