Hanging ~Nothing but Thieves

Lance and Keith woke slowly the next morning. Keith opened his eyes and saw Lance's messy, curly hair and sleepy grin just inches from his face. And for some reason, it ticked him the hell off.

He tried to calm himself with little success, this was when Lance started to notice something was off. "Sup?" He asked.

Keith got out of bed. He didn't know why but he hated him for being so beautiful. He wanted to scream to yell, but he had no good reason.

"Is something wrong?" Lance asked, leaning on his arm.

He had a reason now, and he was gonna yell it for the rooftops to hear. "You. You keep pretending you're broken and then take advantage of my pity to make advances on me. I don't want it anymore, I want you out." He pointed out the door.

"Oh really, mullet? You honestly believe I would stoop so low?" He asked, sitting up now, in only his pajama bottoms.

"I don't know with you, Lance!" He yelled. "You used to be sleazy and hit on anything that could speak. Now, suddenly, you're insane and fragile and constantly on breaking point? Sorry, but I find that a little hard to believe."

"Oh! I'm sorry that you offered to sleep with me so you wouldn't have to wake up to me screaming at all hours of the night!" Lance was standing now, with his fists clenched. "What? Am I not broken enough for you? You want me to stop and stare at walls and suddenly break down screaming for no reason at all when I'm awake too? Oh, wait! I already do! It's not like I enjoy it. It's not like I thought I'd ever want this unless I was bat-shit quiznaking insane!"

This just enraged Keith more. "Well, I'm glad we can agree on one thing! Because you'd have to be fucking nuts to think I'd ever want you."

Both boys were crying heavily now, tears streaking down their cheeks.

"Fuck you, Kogane!" Lance yelled.

"Fuck you too, Mcclain!" He snapped and started walking towards the door. Lance turned him around just before he touched the door pad and pressed him against the door. He kissed him, hard and angry, but still so soft, his tears salty and sweet on his lips.

At first, Keith was startled, but as Lance kept going he melted into it, fireworks going off in his mind, giving him glances of the kisses before, then sweeping them away again.

Lance pulled away from the kiss and searched the boy's eyes. They held only fear and confusion, but also something deeper, as if he wanted more but was terrified to ask. He shook the thought from his head and pressed his hand to the keypad, breaking into a run and not stopping until he hit the kitchen, where Shiro sat sipping something that smelled strangely of coffee.

Shiro looked up from a tablet he was looking over. "Oh, hello Keith."

Keith raised a brow. "Is that...?"

"Coffee, yes, join me?" Shiro had this uncanny ability to tell when something was up. Maybe he'd just guessed it from Keith's panting, either way, he was full dad-mode on right now.

Keith nodded slowly. He poured himself a cup and wrapped his hands around it. He sat down, inhaling the scent deeply. He hadn't had coffee in ages.

"What's up?" Shiro asked, setting the tablet down.

Keith sighed and ran a hand through his hair. "I don't know, I was just angry, and then suddenly we were yelling, and next thing I knew he was kissing me and I- I- I don't know what I want." He groaned. "I started to remember."

Shiro pursed his lips and sipped his coffee in deep contemplation. "Did you like it?"

"What?!" Keith's cheeks erupted with another layer of blush.

"Did you like it?" Shiro repeated, leaning forward and focusing hard on Keith.

"Oh, you so know it is not that easy!" He complained. "Of course I did, they were soft and he was beautiful and I- Of course I did." He buried his face in his hands. "So why doesn't it feel that easy."

"You're afraid," Shiro observed.

"Of what, exactly?" He demanded.

Shiro shrugged. "You tell me."

"Oh, great, thanks, Yoda!" He hit his face on the table then let it rest there. "Why Lance?" He groaned.

Pidge walked in, her eyes red from tears. "Shiro?!" She ran to him and hugged him tightly. "Don't leave again!" She was angry, but it faded when she saw his beverage. "Oh my god, is that coffee?"

"Yeah, grab yourself a cup then get another pot brewing." He told her, averting his eyes to the tablet again.

"So you left like that to get coffee?" and she was cross again.

"Um... yes?" Shiro said tentatively. The last thing he wanted was a genius like Pidge mad at him.

"You could've at least told me you loser." She poured herself some and sipped it, smiling and clutching the cup close to her chest. She set it down for a moment in order to start a new pot brewing then picked it back up, willing to drink it black, and lethargically sat, sipping at the coffee. "You two were loud this morning, was it foreplay or?"

Keith looked up in shock. "Pidge! Who taught you these things?"

"Matt, then Lance at the academy." She replied honestly.

Shiro sighed heavily and shook his head. "Unbelievable."

"Hey, I'm 15 now. I think it's quite normal for me to know." She retorted.

"Yeah, and the rest of the team is 17 or older. You're the baby, we must keep you innocent." Hunk joined in on the conversation without invitation.

"How long have you been here?" Keith asked, turning.

"I smelt coffee, so I came." Hunk said with a shrug. "Not long."

"A new pot's brewing, feel free to join us," Shiro said warmly.

Soon enough Coran and Allura had also joined to try the 'bitter earth beverage'.

"It makes me feel like a zazzy wubberlump!" Coran exclaimed then proceeded to run around the ship screaming. Allura was also a bit hyper due to it, though she just seemed to be much more talkative.

Meanwhile, Lance sat in his room chiding himself for kissing Keith. Keith got to his feet and got himself some more coffee, then traversed through the ship, looking for Lance. He was reluctant to be around Allura as he still held a slight fear for her, and she still glared at him.

"Lance?" Keith poked his head into Lance's room.

"What do you want?" He asked, barely looking up. His countenance was weighed down by the pains of guilt. He suddenly softened and patted the spot next to him. "I'm sorry. What's up?"

"It's not that I didn't... want it. I just... Not yet, okay?" He placed his hand on Lance's.

"Fuck you, Kogane," He whispered. A gentle smile graced his face. His eyes were warm and welcoming. Keith felt as if he could dive into them.

"Fuck you too, McClain." He squeezed Lance's hand, and for a moment, it was like before, and they could just sit there, while their hearts wrote new songs to dance to.
