Shiro pulled Pidge aside during the funeral. This place put him on edge, he couldn't breathe. "Pidge, I'm leaving. I'm going to find your brother, because whoever we spoke to last wasn't him."
"Can't you just stay for this?" Her cheeks were red with tears.
Shiro glanced back at Keith then refocused on Pidge. "Something bad is happening. I don't know where he is, but I need to save him."
"Why do you care all of the sudden?" She demanded. Why did he have to leave now, right after they'd lost Lance? Everything was falling apart. The team was down to three and Voltron would need at least one new Paladin.
"I think I love him." His eyes were scared, terrified. He needed to run right now, and there was only one thing he wanted to run towards. "I'm bringing him home."
Pidge embraced him then glared at him sternly, or as sternly as was possible when tears refused to stop flowing down her cheeks. "You better come back."
Shiro cracked a small smile. "Of course I will."
And with that he was off, going as far as he could away from the place where the air was thick with the suffocating scent of flowers and death. Moments later, he was in the stars, ready to rip them apart because he couldn't handle the thought of Matt suffering the same fate as Lance. "I'm on my way."
