"I just don't understand what her game is."
Emily shrugged, continuing to flip through Netflix shows nonchalantly. "No one can read Lexie Washer's mind. I don't think Lexie Washer even knows what Lexie Washer is thinking."
I shrugged.
"Probably not. But I just don't get it. She dumped me. She was mad and done with me. So why is she acting like she wants me back, right when Aria gets here?"
"The only thing I can think is that she was so mad when she dumped you that she's willing to do anything to compromise your relationship with Aria. Girls are a catty breed, Brenden."
I thought for a moment. I knew that girls were cattier than guys; it was a fact that was hammered into the heads of all teenagers since they enter middle school. Yet this seemed out of character for any kind of sane girl; and as annoying and extra as Lexie was, she wasn't completely crazy.
"And anyways, you can just forget about Lexie and think about hanging out with Aria at the party tonight."
"You're right." I nodded. The dance company here was throwing a party for the dancers visiting from the East Coast, and everyone on campus was invited. It was something that I had been looking forward to, since it was an opportunity to see Aria and hang out with all of our friends together, with no drama and no issues.
