Carina Black and Harry Potter were walking along the sidewalk from Privet Drive. Harry hadn't a clue where they were going, but he didn't care. All he wanted was to leave the Dursleys behind and never have to see them again.
"We've got to take you to the ministry before we go home. Strictly speaking, I'm not even allowed to have custody of you yet, but we'll get that taken care of," Carina explained, her voice full of excitement.
"Ministry?" Harry inquired.
"The Ministry of Magic, of course."
"Wait. Magic?"
"Yeah. I doubt the Dursleys told you about the Ministry of Magic. It's just like the muggle ministry, but for wizards."
"M-muggles? Wizards? But such things don't exist, do they?" Harry stammered.
Carina was momentary speechless. Did the Dursleys not tell him?
"You're a wizard, Harry," Carina told him.
"I'm- I'm a what?"
"A wizard. The Dursleys apparently never told you. Oh, when I get my hands on them..." Carina trailed off. She was angry now.
"I can't be a wizard. I'm just Harry!" Harry gasped, his face white.
"I'll explain..."
Carina proceeded to explain to Harry all about what it meant to be a wizard all the way to the Ministry of Magic. By then, Harry was still confused, but had at least a glimpse of what was going on. Carina was excited to show him his first sign of magic (since he hadn't seen Carina release Mrs. Dursley's spell).
"Alright, were here!" Carina shouted with glee.
"Umm, I don't mean to be rude, but... this is a telephone booth..." Harry said slowly, trying to make sense if the situation.
"Not just any old telephone booth, mind you." Carina tapped in the numbers 62442.
"Welcome to the Ministry of Magic. How may I help you today?" a woman said through the telephone booth.
"Two visitor passes for Carina Black and Harry Potter, please," Carina said. Two passes slid out the slot in the booth.
"Have a nice visit!"
The telephone booth then moved downward into the Ministry of Magic. Harry gawked as they went down, unable to speak. He was extremely surprised, since half of him still didn't believe it was true.
"Well, we're here Harry!" Carina smiled.
"Wow..." Harry trembled.
"Come on, we've got to get you to the--"
"Carina Black?" a voice behind them cut Carina off. She turned around and saw Lucius Malfoy standing right behind them. He looked just as shrewd and evil as ever.
"Lucius," Carina replied, harshly.
"I see you have gotten out of Azkaban. Tell me, how's our dear Bellatrix doing?" Lucius asked, mockingly.
"Horrible as always. Now excuse me, I've got to take Harry to the council," Carina spat turning on her heel.
"Harry Potter," Lucius mumbled, menacingly.
"Yes, sir?" Harry said, slightly growling. Carina was proud that little Harry could already tell this guy was bad news.
"I can escort you and your little friend there to the council. I doubt you have any idea where you're going anyway," Lucius spat. In truth, Carina didn't have a clue where she was going, but she didn't want to be escorted by Lucius.
