Those High School Golden Days (Modern Levi X Reader)

Chapter Two: Yes, Yes It Can

     I rested my hand on the cold table. Mr. Jeager stood up in front of the class, four table rows ahead to be exact. My eyes kept fluttering to a close, and then springing open to wake myself up. To be honest, I dont even know what this lesson is about, but it's biology. I felt a nudge on my left side. As I jumped awake, the girl with glasses and the brown hair passed me a crinkled piece of paper next to me. It took a minute for my eyes to adjust, but the girl couldn't stop snickering so, I opened it; only to be greeted by a ridiculous drawing and a note. The picture seemed to be the boy sitting next to me with an overly exaggerated angry face. The note read "Shorty has a temper," I look over but she just bursts out laughing. "Hanji, please keep your vulgar jokes to yourself!" Mr. Jeager sighed and turned around. I look over at Levi and he doesn't look like Hanji described. In fact, he looked extremely at ease with whatever he was doodling on his notes. I gently poked his arm. "Whatcha drawing?" his silver eyed gaze turned into a rainstorm of attitude. He grew a frown and turned away, concealing whatever was in his notes. Hanji giggled and leaned over. "Told ya so," I scrunched my face but ended up laughing back. "Alright now here are your partners for you human anatomy structures. These will not be presented, just handed in for me to grade. Be creative and you have until Next friday. We will take the rest of this class time to do any research, the rest will need to be done outside of class." The whole class sighed, not only because ew, projects, but also because we can't pick our partners. "Now to the partner list," Mr. Jeager read off the list. Hanji with Erwin, Armin with Annie, Eren with Mikasa, Sasha with Connie, marco with Jean, and Krista with Ymir. I swear to god my ears were about to bleed when he read off the last pair. "Levi and Y/N," I was overly annoyed, but Levi had a small smile plastered to his face. "Looks like shorty's got an interest in you Y/N," Hanji snickered and pushed her glasses up. I could feel my face grow warm. "Shut up," my voice cracked and I turned to Levi. He grabbed a book and opened his notebook to a different page, making sure I dont see whatever he was drawing. "So, where do you wanna start?" I heard him ask. To be honest, I was shocked he was starting this out. I flipped through the textbook and landed on chapter One, Section One: Human anatomy. "Lets just make a simple model and write down brief discriptions. I think we should just gather the brief information first," I finished off, and Levi seemed enthralled and dumbfounded with how quickly I came up with a plan. I bent down to dig through my backpack, and pulled out my note cards and pens. It wasnt long before Levi had done the same thing. We had all the information we needed in a matter of minutes.  "Ya know, for the first day of school, you wouldn't think we would get a fucking project for homework," Levi sneered, clearly frustrated that he has to work with a partner, a new student too. I just nod my head and put my things away since we already have half of our project done. Levi tapped my arm and handed me a paper. "This is my number. Find me sometime after school so we can hurry up and get this project done and over with." I felt a tinge in my chest. For whatever reason, I already felt unwanted. Even more than I used to at my other school...how depressing that must be. "Yeah okay," I mutter, and head out of the classroom as the bell rings. I could feel a pair of eyes stare at me from behind.
   Pushing the thought aside, I grab a piece of paper from my pocket and look at my schedual. Geometry, English, Gym, and then History.
     The whole day was kind of a blur. I had Levi and Hanji in most of my classes. Every beginning of each class was the same. "Let's go around the room and say your name and an interesting fact about yourself," god it was so annoying. Im surprised my eyeballs are still in tact with all of the eye rolling I did, and Levi did the same thing.
    It was finally time to go home, but the bus that stops at the highschool takes us to the middle school to get on the buses that will take us home. I got on the bus for the highschool and almost instantly Hanji sat down next to me, followed by Levi with a "tch" sound. I lean over and look at Levi. "Hey Levi what bus do you ride?" I ask, almost expecting a rude answer. "The one that goes to the kindergarten school, why?" he raised his eyebrows as he pulled out his earbuds. "I ride that bus too, do you just wanna come to my house to work on the project?" I ask, I can see hanji giggle and smirk. My eyes grow wide as I think of all the different possible ideas she's thinkong about. "Yeah, sounds fine to me," Levi turns around and goes back to listening to his music loudly. "Hanji, do I even want to know what you were thinkong about? " I feel myself flood with dread. She laughs loudly, almost silencing the bus. "Ya know Y/N, I think you'll fit in well here," she digs in her bag and scribbles. "Here," she hands me the paper with a genuine smile. "Let's hangout sometime," the bus came to a stop and we all got out. Hanji leaned close to my ear. "And for the record Y/N, I did some investigation, and Levi doesn't hate you like he does most people. Congratulations," Levi walked passed me. "Y/N, let's go," I smile and run ahead after saying bye to Hanji. Levi let me on the bus first and we sat down next to each other. Again, he was looking out the window as wonder filled his silver eyes. I wonder what hes thinking about. I put music on and put my earbuds in too, waiting for the bus to come to a stop.
