China Doll; A play

Scene 1; The Party

Plot: 3 BFF’s hang out at Cassidy’s birthday party.  Adrienne, gives her little sister Cassidy (aka Cassi) , the china doll. But what they don’t know will hurt them....in the deepest of ways.....

And their world will never be the same.

Scene 1: The Party

(Adrienne picks up cell and calls Ariana.)

Adrienne: “Hey! Where are you?!”

Ariana: (Riding bike/ car/ or walking, whatever.) “I’m so sorry. I... got... lost.... You know me. I’m sorry, I’m trying to get there as soon a possible.”

Adrienne: “Well hurry up. We’re starting the party whether your there or not.”

Ariana: “I know that. Like I said I’m- OHH COWSS!! (Giggles happily.) Sorry. I’m sorry. Be there soon. I promise.”

Adrienne: “Okay alright.”

Ariana: “Gotcha. Byeee!”

Adrienne: “Bye.”

(Adrienne turns to Novella) 

Adrienne: That was Ariana. She’s on her way.

Novella: Is she lost again?

Adrienne: Um, yes. 

Novella: Figures. Its been what? An hour? What she been distracted by?

Adrienne: Cows. (The two laugh) So where’s Carri?

Novella: Downstairs. Your mom’s not going to let her go up here. Which I’m fine with. I mean, how would we hide all this stuff from her? Even though she probably knows we’re having one.

Adrienne: Exactly. 

(Yelling is heard from downstairs)

Ariana: I’m here! (Hugs everyone)

Adrienne: Finally!

Novella: Yeah, question how do you get distracted by cows?

Ariana:(lowers her head in shame)Cows are cute...

Novella: You and all your ditsyness.

Ariana: I know I am. Thanks.

Novella: That wasn’t a compliment.

Ariana: I know.

Adrienne: Okay, now that’s over with, what cha get Cassi?

Ariana: Um... flowers. 

Adrienne: That’s it?

Ariana: No! That’s what you’d get, like, for a girlfriend she's my cousin. There are like Little Pet-Shop bees (or butterflies) in the flower pot and the leaves... I hope she likes em...

Adrienne: She should she absolutely adores you.

Ari: Coolieo. What did you get her Novella?

Novella: Gift-card.

(The other two girls nod.)

Adrienne: Smart. 

Novella: What did you get her?

Adrienne: Well, you know how Cassi loves dolls and such. I got her this doll at this freaking awesome tarot shop.

Ariana: Sweet. Whats it look like?

(pulls doll from bag) 

Adrienne: This.

(Ari backs away and screams)

Ariana: That’s so freaking CREEPY!

Novella: Your sisters gonna like that?!

Adrienne: Yeah, she’s all about this stuff. Voodoo and that sort of junk.

Ariana: Hm, didn’t know your sister was so freaky.

(Adrienne smiles)

Adrienne: Not very many people do.

Novella: Let’s get this party started! Everyone’s here and we’re just standing around making your sister wait! Not cool man!

Ariana: She’s right. Lets get her up here!

Adrienne: Gotcha. (Walks over to the stairs and yells) CASSI! COME HERE! I NEED YOU!

Cassidy: Alright! (Walks up the stairs to see lights all shut off and hears faint giggles) Umm, guys?

Other 3 girls: SURPRISE!

Cassidy: (screams then calms down) HOLY CRAP! YOU SCARED ME!

Ariana: Good! (Laughs)

Adrienne: Happy Birthday, sis!

Cassidy: (laughs and hugs her older sister) Thanks.

Novella: Your what now...? 11?

Cassidy: Nah, 12. But that’s alright. Adrienne barely remembers. Soooo, are we opening gifts?

Novella: Yeah mine. (Hands her a bag with a card in which the gift card hides)

Cassidy: (pulls out all the trash and ribbon.) Its like money, only... plastic.

Ariana: OMG! RIBBON!... Can I have some? Please!

Cassidy: Go for it!

Ariana: Hahahah ribbon. (smiles and plays with ribbon)

Novella: You are the ditzyest person i know... hahaha. (all laugh)

Ariana: Oh! My turn! (Hand her flower basket.) Um, I hope you LPS’s, cause my sister still does- (Covers her mouth abruptly) CRAP! I did that with my step dad for his birthday too! GRRRRR! Stupid blondness.

Cassidy: (Laughs happily) Way to go. That’s alright. They're cool. Its not like their socks.

(Adrienne goes into the other room and comes back with the little, torn-up China Doll)

Adrienne: Now for the best for last- Sorry guys but it is- Mine! (Hands her the china doll) 

Cassidy: OH MY GOSH you rock! (hugs her tightly, Adrienne hugs her back)

Adrienne: I know I do. (Smiles)

Ariana: I still think its spooky.

Cassidy: I totally love it!!!

Novella: Alright maybe it's one of those, only a Cassi could love situation!! (Laughs along with Cassidy)

Adrienne and Cassidy mom (Ariana's aunt): (Calls from downstairs) WHO WANTS CAKE!!

The Four: MEEEEEEE!!!!!
