CHAPTER ONE
Another Saturday morning of summer has come. I'm on my bed, just me and my very fat and fluffy cat, Tyga. I named her Tyga 'cause she looks like a tiger.
"Hailey?" My mom knocks on the door.
"Yeah?" I said grabbing my school book that I was supposed to read for the summer, but I haven't started it yet so I just opened it at a random page to pretend I was reading.
She came in with my neatly folded clothes dressed in a scrub suit and said "Are you busy today?"
"Yeah. Brei and I are going to the Party Central to pick the necessary things for Olivia's welcome home party on Wednesday. Why?" I replied and flipped a page to really convince her that I'm actually reading.
"Nothing. I just wondered if you could help your Dad at the store today but since you're going out with Aubrey, its fine."
I love how she doesn't force me to do stuff on vacations, I mean sure, chores are chores and they really need to be done but other than that I can pretty much do whatever I want. In town at least.
Brei is a friend of mine since the seventh grade, she's really nice and would go to lengths for me if need be. She's also really pretty with her chestnut brown hair that accentuates her really pale blue eyes, almost look like gray. Although mostly, she's oblivious of the attention she gets.
I thanked my Mom for letting me off the hook and adding that I'd help at the store after Olivia's party.
"Okay then, don't forget to lock the doors when you leave." She reminded me and left, most likely going to the hospital and work. She was wearing her uniform after all. Oh, my Mom is a nurse. Cool but really long hours.
I have a confession. Truthfully, when I said I am going to be busy, it's not only because Brei and I are going out. It's also because I am going to watch him trim the plants of Mr. Kingsbury's.
I have been doing this for the last two weeks and I feel like I haven't had enough of him. I glanced at the clock and I still have approximately half an hour to kill before he starts his job.
I took a quick shower and did the necessary things, fetched a tall glass of lemonade and took position in front of the window. I watched him mow the lawn next door. To watch those calves, those muscles bulging as they do their job. God, best reality show ever.
How I love watching those calves—toned and sun-bronzed. His adorable dirty blond hair that sparkles whenever the sun hits his hair. He's perfect in every way. He's like the man that Michelangelo sculpted.
Him = Shane Bradley. The one, I truly believe, I was put on Earth to be with.
Except, he's my best friend's boyfriend.
