Chapter Eight

Hailey's POV

I rolled once again in my bed and squealed in delight! It had been twelve hours since Shane dropped me off last night, but I can still feel his hot lips pressed against mine.

When we arrived at the curb of my house, I didn't expect him to walk me to my door. And when we arrived at my door, I bid him "Goodnight, thanks for accompanying me today. I also had fun."

He gave me a warm smile, "Yeah, it was nothing." he said then scratched the back of his neck.

I got curious, "What time is your work? And where?" I asked.

"Around ten, at Club Mon Coeur. Why?"

"Nothing. Um, take care." I smiled and made a move to open our front door, but he grabbed my wrist lightly to stop me. And yes, there are sparks. Lots of sparks also some kind of electricity that spread through my veins. I looked up at him, question in my eyes.

"Can I kiss you?" He asked, and if I told you that I was shocked, then that was definitely an understatement because he didn't wait for my response and just kissed me. It was just a brief kiss but it froze me, I mean his kiss was hot, it's just that I didn't expect him to kiss me. After all the talk we had earlier, I didn't think there will be episode two but never say never, right? When the kiss broke, he smiled at me then winked and then ran to his car leaving me in front of our door smiling like the dumb I am.

God, it was the second time he had kiss me. I won't deny that I'm not having enough, because with all honesty, I want more, oh so much more of him. I want those kisses to be permanently present in my life, now and in the days to come.

But then, Olivia.

Since I woke up this morning, I keep on thinking about Shane like he was some guy who likes me. Like he's courting me or something, but no, he's with someone else. And that someone just happened to be - one of the hottest girl in town, Olivia Christobelle Duhamel - My Best Friend.

I've never been in the worst situation before, and to tell you the truth, I promised myself that I wouldn't be that one person who destroys relationships. Kissing Shane was a bad move already but then I also hooked up with him, that is another thing, that one is the gravest betrayal a best friend could ever do.

Sleeping with your bestfriend's boyfriend.

Last night, when I couldn't sleep, I sat on my bed trying to conjure up the list of all the ways that Olivia had betrayed me. It took me hours to write four things. I pluck my notebook from under my pillow. I started to review what I had written.

1) When I asked her to accompany me to get my hair straightened, at her favorite salon downtown. Apparently, her Aunt worked there before and knew the owner of the salon, so she always had big discounts. But she stood me up, she texted me that her Mother had an emergency and told her to watch her little sister because she's sick. That afternoon, I then found out from Brei that she went to the movies with Alexander Therrien -- a French guy from the football team.

2) When we're in third grade, Olivia told Gwyneth Peters that I also have a crush on Blain Howard. But the truth is she was the one who had a crush on him, not me. She just thought that if she will put me on her spot it would be easier since Gwyneth and I had always been in good relationship, which Olivia and Gwyneth never had. Gwyneth stopped talking to me for seven months.

3) During fifth Grade, Olivia sent me a secret-admirer text and signed it with Matthew Walker's name. I showed it to Cerynna Jones - a friend of mine back then who moved to Ohio - and she went straight to Matt during recess, to ask him if Matt really liked me. Cerynna showed him the text and Matt read it aloud to everyone in their table at the cafeteria. They laughed at me -- including Matt -- after that, Matt didn't spoke to me ever again.
