The Last Battle

Chapter 5

“Popcorn?” I offer the bag of popcorn to Ginny and she accepts.

“How much food did you pack?” She asks, pulling out a handful of popcorn and shoving it in her mouth.

“Enough to feed and army.” I grin handing her a juice popper and a turkey sandwich.

“Yum!” Ginny places them in her lap and leans against the tree. “You’re really organised!” I smile and lay on my stomach against the picnic rug. We have found the perfect hiding place, on the edge of the Forbidden Forest, with a clear view of the lake and we’re concealed by large trees.

“Do you know the time?” She asks.

I glance at my watch, “It’s currently three thirty in the afternoon and we’ve been here for two hours.”

“They better show up today, I don’t fancy staying here all night.” Ginny growls and bites into her sandwich and munching quickly.

“They’ll probably show up as it gets dark, they won’t want to be caught.”

“True.”

-5 hours later-

“Hey Maia? What did happen between George and you? He said that you guys broke up, but didn’t explain.”

I roll onto my back and look up at the bright blue sky, “he kissed another girl.”

Ginny chokes on her food, “George would never do that!”

“He did. Well he said that she kissed him, but I seem to have trust issues.”

“Maia, I can’t even count how many times I have overheard him telling George how much he loves you, he may never have said it to you but he does feel it. Whatever happened yesterday was a mistake on his behalf.” Ginny turns onto her stomach and gazes out at the lake.

I watch for a shooting star, but the sky is clouding over, “I just need some time to think things through, I have a lot going on at the moment. It’s been a year since Sirius died, I’m studying to become a healer, George, this…I need to do things one at a-”

“Shh.” Ginny covers my mouth with her hand and points to the lake. Two figures have appeared and are beginning to shovel dirt.

“We were right.” Ginny whispers, carefully searching through my bag for the camera I packed.

“Silencio.” I point my wand at the camera so it wouldn’t make a clicking noise.

Ginny aims and takes pictures of the Death Eaters, “proof that Adeline is a traitor.”

“You planted the box didn’t you?” I ask while squinting my eyes; to try and see further.

Ginny nods, “I even put a stick in it.”

I grin.

Soon enough the Death Eaters find the box and high-five each other.

“You do realise that we could capture them right here, right now? That’d be less Death Eaters in the world.” Ginny suggests, glancing over at me to see my reaction.

I think on it for a moment but then shake my head, “Voldemort is bound to take over the Ministry soon, so even if we did imprison them, he’d break them out.”

“Probably.”

The two Death Eaters disapparate, leaving us alone. I wave my wand and our stuff packs neatly into our bags. I hold out my arm to Ginny and she takes it,

“Let’s go tell the Order.”

We disapparate.

“PROOF!” Ginny and I yell as we run into Grimmauld Place childishly. We sprint into the kitchen an come to an abrupt halt. All heads turn towards us –there’s an Order meeting on.

“Ginny!” Mrs Weasley scolds jumping up and trying to shoo her daughter out.

“Mrs Weasley wait! We have something we need to share.” I look around the room, Remus is shaking his head at me.

I find Adeline sitting near the end of the table; she has a worried look on her face. I pull out my wand and storm over to her, “Petrificus Totalis!” I yell and her body snaps shut.

“Maia!” Multiple voice exclaim angrily.

Remus snatches my wand from my hand and glares at me, “I thought we decided that I would discuss this?”

“Didn’t you here Ginny and I? We. Have. Proof. There is a Death Eater sitting in on your Order meetings!” I retort, crossing my arms.

Remus sighs, “Show us then.”

Ginny pulls the camera out of her bag and passes it to Remus, “We need to get the film out.”

Remus waves his own wand at the camera and then points at the table. The film rolls out of the camera and lands on the table. Remus waves his wand again and the polaroid picture turns into a moving image.

“Told ya.” I say as Remus watches the picture.

“It’s just two Death Eaters. Maia and Ginny! Did you ever consider how dangerous this was, standing this close to two Death Eaters, twice your age?”

“You only consider that when a Death Eater sits in this very room, and has been feeding information to Voldemort?!” I hiss.

Remus continues to glare, “What does this have to do with Adeline?”

“Everything, Ginny and I-”

“Remus, Maia and I were talking the hallway earlier this morning, when we knew Adeline was listening in, and we were saying that the Order had moved Dumbledore’s wand to beside the lake and buried it. This is where that photo was taken.” Ginny explains calmly.

Remus sighs.

“That was a smart thing to do girls.” Mad-Eye compliments, his fake eye watching Adeline, who is still frozen in her chair.

“You believe them?” Remus asks.

“There not children, love.” Tonks interrupts, standing up and walking over to him. I look down her hand expecting the ring, but her hand is still bare.

Remus rubs his temples and glances at the moving photo again. Mad-Eye points his wand at Adeline and she unfreezes.

“They’re lying! I would never, ever, ever support the Dark Lord!” She protests.

“Only his supporters call him the Dark Lord!” I growl across the table.

“Maia! I’m your friend! How could you do this to me? I am not a Death Eater I swear!” She cries.

“You may not be a Death Eater but you’re report-”

“Enough.” Remus pulls my arm and gently guides me to the door, “let us deal with this now.”

“But you believe us right?”

He nods, “Thank you girls.”

Ginny takes my hand and leads me out of the kitchen, “we’ve done all we can now. Let’s go back to the Burrow where we can have hot chocolate and cookies.”

 I smile slightly and Ginny walks to the library and over to the fireplace, she steps inside and grabs some floo powder, “The Burrow.” She disappears in the green flames. I step into the grate and follow her.

So Adeline is the spy XD lol I am so happy that's finally out.
