Chapter 5: 400 Years

Lucy took a deep breath and clasped her hands in her lap,

"So, this is how everything started..."

A little boy with bright pink hair walked down the street, running back to the castle. He ran past shoppers and vendors until he came up to the castle gates. He looked up to one of the guards and smiled,

"Please let me in." The guard looked down at the boy and his eyes widened,

"Prince Natsu. O-of course. Let me open the gates." Natsu smiled and nodded, waiting for the gates to open enough for him to slip through. He ran up to the gate and waited until it was about as wide as his shoulders and then he slipped through. Running towards the castle and his family inside. He sprinted into the castle and straight up to his bedroom where his older brother was,

"Zeref!" He ran up to the black haired boy with a smile. Zeref turned to Natsu and smiled gently,

"Hello Natsu. Did you have fun in the town?" Natsu nodded his head with a smile. Then he frowned,

"But nobody knew who I was until I got up to the castle gates." Zeref laughed and put a hand on his younger brother's shoulder,

"Well that's because you're not old enough to be able to leave an impression on the people right now. But when you get older I bet you are going to be the strongest mage in the kingdom." Natsu smiled broadly,

"No I'm not! I'm going to be the strongest in the world!" Zeref laughed and picked up Natsu, twirling him around the room,

"That's right! You are going to be the strongest in the whole world. Even more powerful than the dragons and the demons!" Natsu laughed and put his hands in the air,

"Yay!"

2 DAYS LATER

"Natsu! Please open your eyes!" Zeref shook Natsu's shoulders with tears in his eyes,

"No...please don't leave me Natsu!" Zeref grabbed Natsu's body and hugged it close to him,

"No...I promise you Natsu...you'll be the strongest in the world. I'll bring you back and you will destroy the humans. Every last one of them." Zeref's eyes turned red and he picked up Natsu, walking away from the destroyed castle and from his dead parents. Zeref looked up at the sky towards the black dragon flying above the rubble,

"And I swear I will kill you, Acnologia." Zeref glared at the large black dragon and walked away, still holding Natsu's lifeless body.

8 YEARS LATER

Zeref wrote Natsu's name as neat as he could into the large book and added a few incantation words to help the spell. Then for the finishing touch, he shut the book and thought of what to name it.

"Hm, let's see... Natsu Dragneel...Ah! Here we go." Zeref wrote down a large E, N, D on the front of the book. He smiled and put it at the foot of the bed where the now living Natsu lie.

"My greatest creation. Etherious Natsu Dragneel. My younger brother."

"So after that, Zeref gave Natsu to Igneel, his adoptive father, who was a dragon, and asked him to teach Natsu Fire Dragon Slayer Magic. When Igneel thought that Natsu was ready, he cast a spell on himself so that he could go inside Natsu's body and create a cure for him so that he would never turn into a dragon. Because if you have dragon slayer magic, you run the risk of turning into a dragon yourself. And that's what happened to Acnologia. So my ancestor, Anna Heartfilia, decided to send 5 dragon slayers 400 years into the future so that she could kill Acnologia and save her timeline from destruction. Then a long time passed and my mother, Layla Heartfilia opened up the gate and let Anna Heartfilia, Natsu Dragneel, Gajeel Redfox, Sting Eucliffe, Rogue Cheney, and Wendy Marvell into her time." Wendy's eyes were wide open in pure shock or disbelief, Lucy couldn't tell.

"Wait, am I one of the dragon slayers that was sent into the past?" Lucy nodded,

"Yes. Your actual name, before you became Natsu's sister, was Wendy Marvell." Wendy frowned slightly,

"I think I like Wendy Dragneel better." Lucy smiled,

"Me too Wendy." Wendy looked up to Lucy with worry in her eyes,

"Well now that I know what's going on, what is the big deal with Natsu being gone from school?" Lucy's face took on a worried look,

"Since Natsu has Etherion in his body, making him a demon, people have been trying to take his magic power from him so that they can use his power for their own uses. But if they do manage to take his magic, it will kill him because the Etherion in his body is what's keeping him alive. Since he should have been killed 400 years into the past because of Acnologia." Wendy put a hand to her mouth in shock,

"Then we need to get him back before they kill him!" Lucy shook her head and put her hand on Wendy's own hand,

"It's ok Wendy. This has happened a lot lately and Natsu and Gray are very powerful when trapped in a corner. Gray is out there right now looking for Natsu, in fact, he has already found him. He will be fine. I promise you Wendy." Wendy's shoulder's relaxed and she nodded her head,

"Ok. But when do you think they'll be back?"

"How about right now?" Wendy looked over to the door of the room and saw Natsu and Gray standing in the doorway. Gray looked fine other than a scratch or two on his bare chest. But Natsu had several bruises on his body and there was blood running down one part of his face. Wendy burst into tears and she ran up to Natsu, hugging him tightly,

"Natsu! I was so worried about you! I thought I would never see you again and I was so worried after everything that Lucy told me!" Natsu smiled softly and bent down to Wendy's level, giving her a kiss on the forehead,

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you everything sooner. It was just too early and I didn't want to scare you away from me, because I really do love you Wendy. I have never been a big brother before and it's the best thing that has ever happened to me." Wendy smiled and hugged Natsu even closer.

"I love you too big brother."
