"We expect the battle for humanity is about to begin.
"Within each uprising, a fake sense of safety will ignite in you and an unseen shadow will slip from doubt towards those who protect and defend you.
"But let the thoughts slip away, and remain calm.
"Stay close to F.E.A.R.
"Only we can protect."
I woke up with a jolt and sat up straight in my bed, scared for dear life. I heard the voice in my dream. I heard F.E.A.R calling out to me. A part of me wanted to go back, live my old life and be normal. But another part of me was revolted at the thought of going back and has become attached to the legion of the rebels.
I'm going to paint the compound walls.
Stupid idea, especially when the Prophet hates my guts for the simple fact that I exist, but I don't care. I'm going to do it.
I quickly dressed up in all black to blend in with the desert night, packing white paint and started running as fast as I could to the barrier walls then jumped with superhuman strength. The jump propelled me to the flat rock roof that covered the gate doors, and I put my back to the wall, breathless, looking down at the ground.
How did I do that?
I shook my head. There was no time to ponder this, it was Sunday and everyone would gather at the cathedral for service. And that's exactly where I was going. Everyone will see it and it will be a perfect way to prove that I'm not from F.E.A.R.
I started climbing the side of the wall and lifted my leg over the side, jumping from the wall onto an abandoned grass patch. I laid back on the grass, breathing heavily and feeling for bruises. There was none except for a dull headache that rang in my head.
I started to run and I weaved through the streets, passing by abandoned merchant stands and down alleyways until I finally got to the cathedral. It towered over me as I stood under its shadow, its stained glass windows dark in the night.
I climbed onto the balcony that had no doors into the church which only was for ministers who could make announcements and have the stained glass behind themselves.
I took out my white paint and dipped the soft brush into the white mixture and tested it against one of the windows. When it showed, I started painting the legions seal, the BVB pentagram, onto the front of the church, being as precise as I could.
Thirty minutes later, the pentagram in a bright white colour was over the stained glass and with my hands covered in white paint, I admired my handiwork. I saw a few rays of light peeking out from the artificial sun made by F.E.A.R., which means that it's almost time to get up back outside the barriers.
I ran back, jumping and climbing until I finally got outside. Once I made my way to the rebel town I heard screams of terror from the compound. I smirked and went into the soldier dormitories, laying back on my bed.
Don't stay close to F.E.A.R.
