Y/N walked onto the school campus, waiting for more students to show up. As she leaned against one of the gates, she anxiously bit her lip. There was one specific person she was waiting on. Jack. Her kind, cute, funny, green haired Senpai. Today was Friday, and for the past couple of weeks, she did everything she could to drop hints to her Senpai that she liked him. She was hoping he'd picked up on some of them, wanting to be Jack's girlfriend more than anyone could imagine. Today she was going to confess her love to him after countless weeks of chickening out. And she hoped that he'd accept. If he didn't, it would be awkward between the two, but she'd still want to be his friend. He was one of the best friends anyone could wish for.
She sighed dreamily as she painted a picture of him in her mind. She began to softly sing.
"You are my Senpai,
My only Senpai.
You give me dokis in shades of grey..
You'll never notice me, but I still love you..
You're so Sugoi, Kawaii desu-ne.."
She giggled after she'd finished. It was a weird little song, she thought, but it fit the situation. She liked it. She waited there for another five minutes before anyone else started to show up. They went and stood or sat in their usual places, some listing to music or playing around on their phones to pass the time. Jack had shown up around that time as well, and Y/N smiled widely, waving him over. As he got closer, she could feel butterflies begin to flutter about in her stomach, and her S/C cheeks flushed with glee.
"Goodmorning, Senpai!" She said sweetly, smiling up at him.
"How'ya, Y/N!" He smiled back, adjusting his backpack on his shoulder. "How's your mornin' been goin'?" He asked politely, looking into her E/C orbs.
"It's been good!! And yours?" She asked in return.
"Tired as all hell, but I'm fine." He shrugged a little, giving a small smile. He happened to glance down and saw that Y/N was wearing some F/C stockings instead of the regular issued black ones that came with the school uniform. "Yer stockings are very cute, by the way!" He complemented. "That colour suits you well."
Y/N looked away shyly. "Oh... I just thought my uniform could use a splash of colour..." She shrugged a bit, though on the inside, she was freaking out. She had secretly hoped he would notice her stockings, having partly worn them because they showed how great her legs looked. And besides, those black knee highs were too bland for her taste.
Y/N and Jack talked their time away until the front gates opened, allowing students to file onto campus. The two walked side by side, talking and smiling as they entered the school and went to their respective lockers. Quickly changing into their shoes, Jack and Y/N met up again to go into the courtyard.
Jack and Y/N sat on a bench slightly positioned away from everyone. Y/N's eyes widened. She quickly reached into her bookbag, grabbing a book. "Oh, Senpai, I finished the book you lent me! You were right; it is very good!" She held the book out to Jack.
He smiled widely. "Oh yeah? I'm glad you liked it! Reading for fun isn't typically my thing, but I liked this book a lot." He shrugged a little and reached for the book, his hand accidentally brushing against Y/N's.
"Yeah..." Y/N blushed heavily and looked away slightly, cupping her hands in her lap.
Jack put the book into his bag and sat back up, giving a contented sigh as he watched the cherry blossoms fall from he Sakura trees all around them. He tuned the distant chattering all the way out, focusing on the serene moment. Jack and Y/N often did this, the silence being something they both enjoyed. It was peaceful and not in the slightest bit awkward.
After another brief moment, Y/N spoke up. "Senpai," She started.
Jack hummed in response, still looking off into space.
"The computer lab has some new computers, and I wanted to know if later on during our free period, if you would like to, maybe come with me to check them out? And.. And play some games with me?" She asked, quite hesitant.
Jack looked over and gave a wide smile. "Of course!! I'd love to!" He accepted with a nod of his head.
"R-Really?" Y/N asked with a smile forming on her lips.
"Yeah, Totally. It'll be fun." He answered.
"Cool.." Y/N said softly, another blush flaring up on her cheeks.
Not too long later, the bell had rung, signaling the start of the school day. People filed out of the courtyard and began to walk the halls of the school, going to their respective places.
Y/N's first period was English, so she went to the second floor, Jack right at her side. His first class was Maths, but it was only three classrooms down from Y/N's, so they would still get to walk together to their second class.
As they entered their hallway, Y/N motioned to wave to Jack, telling him goodbye, but Jack pulled her into a side hug instead.
"See ya, N/N!" He called to her as he walked away.
Y/N's face lit up, her cheeks burning. She quickly walked into her classroom, zooming to her seat as she sat down. Her bookbag sat on her desk as she placed her elbows on top of it. She gripped her head tightly, still blushing heavily. Her mind raced.
What was that all about?!
Does Senpai... Maybe... Have feelings for me?! She raved inside her head.
But.. It was just a hug! He can't possibly... C-can he...?
"Okay, everyone, settle down! It's time for class to start." Ms. Hanyuu chimed after the late bell rung. "I hope you all did your homework. Please place it in the homework basket and on your way, grab a textbook from the shelf."
Y/N shook her head and tried to clear her mind as she unzipped her bag, reaching in to retrieve her homework.Near the end of class, Y/N could barely control herself. She couldn't wait to see Jack again. Maybe she could find out a little more on wether he liked her or not. She was hoping the former. Her leg bounced restlessly under the desk, waiting for the bell.
Diing Doong..
Y/N packed her bag and quickly stood, eager to see Jack again. She exited the classroom, looking around and down the hallway for her beloved Senpai. When she saw him leaning against the wall, a smile crept up on her lips. When she got closer, the smile slowly disappeared. In front of him stood Y/N's 'rival' so to speak. Charlotte Everdeen used to be Y/N's best friend, until Y/N confessed to her. Charlotte promised she would talk to Jack about Y/N and put in the good word for her. But she ended up trying to take Jack for herself.
When Y/N tried to confront her about it, Charlotte completely blew her off. She was upset to say the least. After that, they were sworn enemies.
Y/N walked up to he Senpai. "Hi, Senpai!" She greeted before sending a half hearted glance toward Charlotte. "Everdeen."
Charlotte sneered at Y/N before rolling her eyes. "Anyway, Jack, I was wondering if you'd want to hang out with me after school! There's this new totally cute café on the corner of Yanako and Okana. Maybe we could get some tea and maybe a cookie or two.." She offered, rocking back and forth, her hands behind her back.
Jack shrugged. "That sounds nice-"
"Great! Right after school. Don't forget! We can even walk together!" She interrupted with a giggle so sweet, it made Y/N want to vomit. She placed her hand on Jack's chest before looking to Y/N slyly. She did the flirty fingers at Jack as she walked away.
Jack frowned, looking down at his uniform jacket. He then threw a glance at Y/N, who on the inside, was fuming. She tried not to show it though, wanting to be the bigger woman. She shook her head quickly, sighing.
"Let's go. Don't want to be late for art." She said, readjusting her bag on her shoulders.
Second period passed rather quickly, Jack and Y/N working together in their group for a class project.
