This following is a little myth that I originally made up for Language Arts, but decided to not turn in when things got a little too messy.

The First Dog

Part One: War Is Coming

(A/N: I'm warning you: the first dog was a result of a curse, a punishment, a wolf forced to serve the ones he sought to kill. This legend is not for the weak of heart. Read on... IF YOU DARE.)

Long ago, in Ancient Greece, a wolf pup met his young Alpha. The dark-furred wolf glared in the direction of the village, nose wrinkled in disgust. The red pup gazed curiously at the Alpha, and asked, "Why do you stare with so much hate?" the pup's green eyes holding the light of innocence and curiosity, of a child who was unknowing to every pain, to every danger, to everything. The Alpha gazed at the pup, and sensed potential.

Something glinted in the Alpha's eyes, something that the young pup couldn't quite understand- curiosity, thoughtfulness, and ... ? "Claw, isn't it?" The Alpha asked, interrupting the pup's curious and slightly suspicious and fearful thoughts, cold blue eyes seemed to burn into the pup's soul as he nodded. Ah, the one pup that survived. The strongest, most powerful pup. He will grow into a strong and powerful one. I should watch out, but I could use him... The Alpha thought, staring at the now-very-nervous pup.

The Alpha gave Claw a cold, bitter wolf smile. "You should already know, but I'll tell you anyways." The powerful, blue-eyed wolf chose his words carefully, while thinking with a hint of anger that the pack wanted peace, not revenge. "You see, the villagers made their home on OUR land. They wanted the land where our first camp was. They took it with force, spilling the blood of over half our pack to get it!" The Alpha snarled, scoring the earth with his claws. Then the Alpha paused, staring deep into Claw's wide eyes.

The Alpha mentally smirked- though young, Claw understood violence and death. Time to tell the pup what REALLY happened to his father. The Alpha thought. "They're the REAL reason your father is dead. Don't you want to avenge him? Don't you want to avenge the pack?" The Alpha growled lowly, truth and the thirst for revenge making his words forever be imprinted in Claw's memory. Shock filled Claw's eyes before quickly turning into hate, the light of innocence being dimmed as his green eyes filled with more hate and bitterness than the Alpha's eyes. "They're the reason why my mother cries every night?" Claw asked. The Alpha nodded, and Claw's fate was sealed as he swore revenge.

Claw, fully grown, well trained, and a powerful oppenent to both prey and foe stalked through his pack's territory. Muscles rippled under his scarlet coat of fur as he stealthily walked through the forest, nose to the ground, inhaling the scents. He was searching for the fresh scent of the human he knew was in his pack's land, that the wind had brought to him. Claw knew it was a human from the village- that was the closest human settlement, as well as the only one. The village was all alone.

Claw spotted the one he was hunting. The human he had scented. A full-grown man. Claw froze, thinking of a good way to kill the human quickly and swiftly- Claw was alone at the moment, after all. Then Claw relaxed into a casual position that made him extremley stealthy, and that was what Claw needed at the moment. A cruel wolf smirk could be found on Claw as he carefully stalked the human. "The revenge starts now." Claw growled out loud, green eyes pratically glowing with hate.
