It's Saturday and the sun is up high. It shines through the curtains and bounces off the white walls of the room. It's warm rays that shines on my face and the heat that I felt from it, woke me up from a dream I had where Luke was there. I sit up for a moment and stretched a little. I leaned on the head board of my bed, still in a daze and feeling drowsy. I observed my surroundings and figured how relaxing and peaceful it is at this moment. The air is soft and cool like the fresh breeze outside in a farm full of green grass or like a field full of fragrant flowers. My room shines because of the sun that shines through the white curtains that I have just installed last week. My white fluffy blanket is warm because of the sun. I have a desk at the corner of my room where all my colorful stencils and stationaries with different sizes are neatly kept and showing how creative the owner can be. My bookshelf on the otherside of the room where all my books are arranged according to its series. It shows how the owner likes to read and what book it prefers. I spent fifteen minutes contemplating about how great the start of this morning is.
I thought that it can be better if I start the day active. I'm still in a bit of a haze as I get up and clean myself up before I go downstairs.
"Bri, wake up. It's Saturday." Reg came in with a basket of laundry.
"Yeah, I'll be down in a minute." I replied as she retrieved. I pulled back my hair into a messy bun. I did my business, washed my face, brushed my teeth and head downstairs to make breakfast. I didn't bother to change my pj's because I still feel comfortable and relaxed. I went inside the kitchen and opened the refrigirator to scan. I figured that I could make pancakes with bacon and eggs today.
"Oooh I like your choice of food Bri. That's why I always make you cook. You're gonna make me fat because of your cooking." Reg said in a cheeky and joking manner as she have seen the ingredients I'm taking out of the fridge. As if she'd really get fat with that metabolism of hers.
"Bri, can you get the door please?" the door rang and Reg shouted from the back where she's hanging the clothes.
"Yeah, I'll go get it." I turned down the stove to low heat, wiped my hands, took off my apron and went to get the door.
"Who was that?" Reg approached me as I was closing the door.
"It's just the mailman." I replied as I gave her the mail.
"It's from Mom and Dad." she said as she sat down on the couch in the living room.
"Okay you go ahead and read it without me. I'll just check on the eggs for a minute." I said as I left the living room and went back in the kitchen. The eggs were perfectly fine and not burned. I went to get two plates and placed egg one on each plate and placed them on the table. I called for Reg and said that breakfast is ready.
"What's with the long face?" I asked, worry and concern evident in the tone of my voice.
"Nothing sweety. Mmh, breakfast smells good Bri." she said in an awful pretencious tone of being okay and enthusiastic. I figured that she didn't want to talk about it so I didn't press in on it. We ate our breakfast and got by through the morning with worried fake smiles and small talks.
When she's acting like this, usually she just needs some time and space. Caring and encouragement also helps a little. So I let her be and decided to go out and buy groceries. I went upstairs and took a shower. The water wasn't cold nor hot but rather in between cool and warm. It was a refreshing shower that I took. I spent eight minutes contemplating about why this morning is so perfect and how that it's too good to be true.•••
It's nine in the morning and I'm on my way to the grocery. The sun still shines up high. It's blinding me and now it's just annoying. I parked my car in an open spot and went inside and grabbed a cart. I picked up some items that were important like milk, canned goods, condiments and such. I went to the toys isle and saw a cute little penguin. I grabbed one and examined it.
"It's really adorable and fluffy but I can't afford it right now. Sorry little penguin. I can't take you home right now. But if I can, I'd name you Lukey Poo." I mumbled to myself and chuckled. Oh just how cute it is. It would have been nice for my bed. For a girl aged 19, I have a lot of stuffed toys on my bed
My phone rang with the ringtone of Invisible and on the screen, there's an unknown number. I didn't answer it the first time since I don't know who it is. But then it rang again so I picked it up.
"Hello? Who's this?"
"Is this Victoria Anderson?" the guy on the other line asked. The stranger guy on the other line has a warm tone of voice. It kind of remind me of someone.
"Yes this is her. Why? Who is this?"
"Pick up the penguin." I was shocked. I looked left and right and saw nobody. How did the guy know that? I was a bit nervous about that so I kept asking who the hell he is.
"Trust me just pick up the penguin and proceed to the cashier. And hurry."
"Okay fine." he hang up after that. I picked up the penguin and left. I thought that no one would have the guts to do something bad in a place where it's crowded so I did what he asked for. As I approach the cashier, I saw a familiar face, too familiar for me to not notice.
"Hey Tori. Surprise!" he smiled widely with that dimple so evident. Luke's here with Calum. I can't believe it.
"What the hell are you guys doing here? Fans are everywhere you guys." I said with worry evident in my voice.
"And how did you know I was here? And how did you get my number? Wait, you can answer that later. Let me just check this out and let's go to some place quiet." I started to pile the things on the counter and leaving the penguin on the cart.
"Include that penguin here. I'll pay for it." he said pulling out his wallet from his pocket.
"Really? You don't need to though."
"No. I insist. Put that here." he pointed at the penguin. And so I grabbed the penguin.
"Thank you." I said a bit flushed. My face was blushing but it's a good thing it wasn't evident. I paid for the groceries and Luke paid for the penguin. I grabbed the groceries and Luke helped me with them and we went to my car.
"Wow Tori! Is this yours?" Calum asked with amazement flashing on his face.
"Yeah. My parents bought it for me when I turned 16." I replied proudly as I remember that day.
"You're cool Tori." Calum was acting like a child seeing Disneyland for the first time. It's cute and sweet actually. We finished putting the groceries in the car. We hopped in and I drove the car.
It was a long and rather noisy ride. These boys are freakishly loud. Well given the fact that they make music that make adults say "That music is loud" or "Is that a song for satan?". I honestly don't get adults. Generally.
We stopped infront of a small hidden cafe where there were two people inside and completely out of sight from paparazzi.
"We're here!" I sang in a happy tone as I park the car.
"Hey Tori? Could I borrow you for a sec? Let's walk to that playground over there" Luke asked me as he grabs my arm and stared into my eyes with a warm smile plastered on his face.
"Yeah sure but what about them?" I motioned ny head to the boys.
"What? Us? We're fine. Just go on with your little walk. We'll wait for you inside." Calum stated in a cocky manner as he waves his eyebrows. What is going on with them?
"Yeah we'll be alright."
"We'll chill inside. Besides, we don't like playgrounds." Michael and Ashton agreed with Calum. And I swore I saw Michael winked! What are these goofballs planning? And I don't believe about the playground thing.
They went inside the cafe while me and Luke went for a walk. We were walking side by side and keeping a respectful distance from each other. Why did he asked for me to walk with him? Why is the air kind of puffy all of a sudden? The atmosphere around us was heavy and tingly.
"So uh... You left last night." he scratched the back of his neck and chuckling nervously.
"Oh my gosh! I'm so sorry! I forgot that you're supposed to take me home. I got on the phone with my sister and heard that Lorie got drugged with sleeping pills by some drunk freak so I completely forgot. I'm sorry." I looked down at my feet as I play with my fingers. I don't know why I'm nervous. But okay who won't be nervous around Luke?
"It's okay love. I was just worried." he let out a sigh of relief. Did he call me love? Wait! Isn't this the second time he called me that?
"Oh look we're here." I ran towards the swing set. I lightly kicked against the ground so that I'm slowly swinging. Luke sat on the swing beside me and did the same thing.
We're in a cute small playground that has a sandbox, a slide, monkey bars and ropes, and my personal favorite: the swing set. I noticed the clouds lightly covering the sun. The weather is nice. It's cold but warm at the same time. The breeze was cool as the weak light of the sun keeps that warm touch that doesn't make this day extremely cold.
"So... How did you get my number?" I remembered how he found me at the grocery and called me. I tilted my head to the side a bit so that I could look him in the eye.
"I asked Hayley where Reg lives so I went to your house and she answered the door." he looked down at his feet then to me. Somehow his nervousness around me gives me hope. He gives me hope that I have a chance with him.
"What did she say?" I tilted my head to the side a bit more, looking like a confused puppy.
"She just asked me why I'm there so I told her how we met last night and that I was looking for you. She gave me your number and she told me where you are. So I went to the grocery and found you there looking at the penguin." he replied.
"Oh... wait! You heard what I said about the penguin?" I asked. I remembered that I was talking to the penguin about naming him Lukey Poo. Thinking of it right now makes me feel embarassed.
"Uh... No. I just saw you holding the penguin and I figured that you like it." he replied after a moment of short silence. I'm getting the feeling that he hesitated. I just sure hope he didn't hear what I said to that cute penguin. It's embarassing. I think my cheeks are evidently red.
After that, it was dead silent. Not a word from either of us. I feel the air filled with akwardness. I have a lot of questions but I think it'll make me look too pushy or that girl who always sticks her nose on other people's business so I kept quiet.
"We should get back. I also kind of need to get home soon. I have frozen goods." I spoke as I tuck behind my ear a strand of hair that's blocking my eyes, breaking the silence between us.
"Yeah you're right. Okay. We should go back." he replied as he hopped off the swing.
He offered his hand to me. I looked at his hand, then I looked up and observed his face. His eyes were shining from the reflection of the sky. His skin is flawless and his lips were plum. I noticed the famous lip ring on his lower lip. I wonder how it feels to kiss him.
We made our way back to that tiny cafe. It was the most pleasant walk I have ever experienced. The pavement feels like it wasn't even there. It was like I'm just floating or walking on the clouds. Somehow I feel light today.
We arrived at the front of the cafe and walked in. We came to a halt just near the table when I saw their faces.
"So I figured the walk went well." Ashton commented air quoting the word 'walk' and emphasizing the word 'well'.
"Whoa slow down there. I think you're going way to fast." Calum added, chuckling while putting his hands up.
I first thought about what they mean. Then I looked down on my hand to see that Luke and my hands are intertwined. I immediately let go of his hand and looked up at him. He seems to be disappointed.
"Well we better get going! We'll be late and John would be steaming mad again." Ashton looked at his watch and stood up. Michael followed as he stood up from where he was sitting.
"Right now? I haven't even got the chance to hang with you guys." I said as I move closer to the table.
"No worries. We'll hang next time soon. Luke has your number right?" Calum replied as he walks pass me.
"Well, yeah. He does have my number..."
"And besides, you got frozen goods." he said with a warm smile.
"Let's go Calum enough winking." Luke said as he pushes Calum out the cafe.
I was drowned in my thoughts. I was standing there in that small cafe watching them through the window. They were all smiling. I thought to myself 'This day is too good to be true'
