BLOOM
"I'll be fine, Mom. It's one flight." I roll my eyes at my mother who clearly was overthinking the whole situation. She looks me over, taking in my red locks, my sharp green eyes, and my soft smile.
"Oh, my baby, all grown up." She gushes before placing a small kiss on my head and sending me on my way. Phil, my step dad, I guess we could call him, smiles at me as I take a seat up front in his car, "Ready, Bloom?"
I nod, taking in the last bit of sunshine this state had to offer me as a goodbye present. It wasn't that I didn't want to join my mother in Florida, but instead I wanted her to have some time with Phil. It would also do me good to spend time with my father before college hits. Smiling at the desert landscape, I bid good bye to the blessing of heat and prepare to take on the frigid cold up north.
"Bloom is that you?" Charlie, my dad, asks as he looks me over at the airport. I smile and nod as he envelopes me in a hug, "You've gotten taller."
"Thanks, Dad. That is what happens." I laugh and Charlie grimaces and nods, "Right."
He leads us to his little trooper and helps me with my stuff. I had quite a few bags, but it all managed to fit in his car. We talked mainly about my mom and my life in Arizona, not focusing too much on one subject too much. As we pull up to the house, I remember my childhood of running around in the backyard and skipping into the woods where my first encounter with the pixies had been.
I have always believed in fairies and pixies, even now as a teenager. For some reason, I always felt a draw to those kinds of things. Especially as a child as I went to explore our backyard where I had once seen one up close. A pixie, actually. It was a glimpse, but I knew it was real. My parents at that time let it be, thinking I was only a child prone to imagination. Little did they know, I had experienced more than just that.
"Well, Bloom, school starts tomorrow and you need to get a good night's rest. So hurry and let's eat, so you can sleep." Charlie suggests as he takes out the plates and places the fish out to fry. Bloom takes over the cooking, trying to turn on the stove, but having trouble. Getting annoyed, she glares at the stove, suddenly causing flames to perk up. Casually placing the pan on, she sneaks a peek to Charlie who was too busy getting the vegetables out to notice.
She had no clue how that had happened, but she wouldn't question it.
"Oh, you got the stove on? I've had a hard time turning that thing on." Charlie comments as he grimaces at it before chopping some asparagus up. Bloom just shrugs, "Guess I have magic or something."
"Well, that's considerable, Bloom." Charlie chuckles before asking, "You like asparagus?"
