"You may now kiss your husband." The words make the room go oddly silent, the crickets are chirping away in the grass that surround us all, no one dares to breathe. What were the words just spoken to us?

Kiss?! Did they really expect us to kiss?! They knew the situation, they knew it was a forced marriage, we are not some happy couple dying to go on a honeymoon! I can feel my ears painfully flat against my head as I let out a low whine. I did not want to kiss a monster- yet he was such a beautiful monster. His eyes never left mine for a moment when we exchanged vows to one another.

"I..I gue-" I start to speak but am cut off as my chin is grasped firmly by the vampire's hand. He glares at me, a glare that meant do as i say or you'll regret it. So I did, I stand there helplessly staring into the devilish glacier eyes, watching his head move in closer and closer, until our lips press together, it was gentle, yet he seems to be tense and leaning away as quickly as he possibly can. He only kissed long enough to get everyone to clap and cheer. It as final, we are officially married. I was now Lucas De'Court, I decided a while ago to take his last name instead of both just because there was now no reason to be a Carina, my father stripped me of my position.

I stand there, my hands shaking and my face deep crimson, I lift my tail and hug it to my chest as we start walking down the isle. I could feel Jared's eyes on me, I try my best to just look forward, or at my feet. He towers over me, standing at least six foot three inches, while I stand five foot four inches. I am very short and petite for a guy, but that doesn't mean I am not strong!

He pulls me out of my thoughts by grabbing my hand and walking a bit faster until we reach the building where we got dressed and ready, where he quickly releases my hand and turns to face me, eyes stern. "Don't act all surprised about a kiss, it was merely that. We had to do it!" He snorts and ran a hand through his black hair.

My eyes swell, was he yelling at me? Did I say something wrong? Of course I was surprised! My pupils narrow as I growl towards him, tail swaying side to side. "You better watch it! I didn't do anything wrong!" I snap back, my hands coming to cover my face, I turn and ran from the vampire to the nearest room and shut the door, almost closing it on my tail. What did I do wrong that made him snap at me like that?

I let my back push against the door, I didn't want to come out. However, I knew I had too. I have to suck it up, wipe my tears and get through the night. I take a deep breath before making sure I look half decent in the small mirror on the wall. My eyes look puffy but that was something I can handle on my own, a nervous coughing fit can be a nice excuse for watery eyes.

I open the door to find I am now alone. Where did Jared go? I frown but shrug it off, it was time to get introduced at the reception, I rush along and ran my hands through my hair to fix it the best I could before seeing everyone already at tables. I made a mental note to thank the women later for planning such a beautiful wedding.

The reception was also placed outside, but half of the building was decorated and set up just in case it decided to rain. A dance floor flatted quite a bit of grass, canopies draped over several tables, our table was on the opposite side of everyone else, encased in a satin curtain that is held back with black ribbon neatly folded into a bow. Trees dotted the area where several children dance and play together, it makes me forget for just a moment that we are different. Children did not care what race you were, as long as you were nice they were nice. It was admirable how children worked, though I knew I never wanted any of my own; it was to much work and time.

"Lucas can you focus?" I blink and shook my head quickly as I gaze around before seeing Jared standing in front of me, his eyes held nothing as he simply grabs my arm and loops it with his, forcing our hands to lock together as well. We had to act, we had to fake a marriage, I already hated it.
