“Kanon-san, we’re here” I pulled out my headphones as soon as I heard a muffled voice called out to me. It was my driver. He was telling me that we were already here in my new enrolled school. Rakuzan High. I got out of the vehicle and put my shades on, hiding my identity from the crowd forming in front of me. It was pretty useless since some students had already recognized my face and were starting snap pictures of me. Damn it. I just want peace and quiet.
“Kanon-san, over here” my body guard guided me towards the high school building without getting tugged by fans. I obediently followed his steps covering my face because the camera flashes were hurting my eyes. We reached the entrance of the building and I told my body guard to stay put at the lobby while I talk go to the main office to find out my section and schedule.
I walked through the hallway, shielding my face with a hoodie I was wearing to prevent catching more attention than I usual get. Successfully reaching the office, I opened the door to be greeted by the secretary my manager called in arranging my enrollment here.
“Ah, Hikari-san, Itobe-san is waiting for you in her office” the secretary nicely informed as I gave her a polite thank you and headed to the principal’s office where I talked with Itobe-san. She gave me a warm greeting then the section and schedule my manager arranged for me. After that, I quietly exited the office and head back to the lobby to tell my body guard that he can go home. So alone, I went to my classroom to go and greet my classmates. I was in Class A.
“So, everyone, even though you already know her, I still want her to give an official introduction to you all” my adviser announced while I stood just beside him. Everyone was already staring at me, the guys’ hearts pounding and the girls wear squealing with excitement. “Hikari-chan?” that was a cue that I should start introducing myself.
I stood up straight and gave out a cute smile to everyone. “Hello there! My name is Hikari Kanon and I’ll be your classmate for this school year! I hope we can be friends!” that made everyone fangirl or fanboy. Everyone except one guy. A guy with red hair and heterochromatic eyes. Someone I appreciated for not screaming or squealing at my face; because I’m really tired of people like those. I’m tired of being famous. Being an idol is tiring.
“Thank you for that Hikari-chan, please go seat to Akashi-kun there”
I glanced back to my teacher then to the red head boy where he was gesturing to. It was the boy who didn’t cheer to me at all. I felt relieved I get to seat or even share desks with him. He’s the type of a quiet person. And I like people like those. Quiet.
I followed my teacher’s instructions and sat beside the so called Akashi-kun, only to be greeted by an emotionless expression. Guess he doesn’t want to talk to me. I shrugged it off and pretended that I wasn’t sitting beside him and listened to my teacher attentively. Some students were passing me notes which they were hoping that I would reply but I didn’t want to. I wanted to catch up with my studies that I have no time for fans. This is why I took a break from my career; I wanted freedom from work and fans. But still…
I frowned down at the note which I think Akashi-kun noticed because he told me that I could just ignore them. I glanced at him. “But my manager said that I should—”
“Idiot, then why are you at school for? To answer notes from fans during class?” his question made me look taken a back as I looked back at the note sadly. He’s right…
I came here to be free… to feel like a student again… but still…
I smiled and crumpled the paper in my fist. “Thank you, Akashi-kun”
He huffed. “What are you thanking me for?”
I shrugged happily. “Nothing I guess. It’s just that, I barely even know you and you’re helping me with these kind of things”
“I’m not helping you. I’m simply pointing out obvious things. Don’t get ahead of me Hikari” his words were bitter but I can feel warmth in them. A warmth that can somehow tell me that he can relate on what I’m going true. A warmth that understands me.
