When lunch came, expectedly, many of my fans had asked autographs and take pictures from me. Of course I, being an idol, can’t possibly deny their request. It was really frustrating; crowds of people surrounding you. I felt suffocated. Like I can’t breathe or something. I’m becoming claustrophobic because of this.
What surprised me is my classmate, Akashi-kun, pulling me out from tons of people and gave them a glare before broadcasting a lecture. “I’m pretty sure lunch hour is where people eat, not let other people starve to death because of your selfish demands. Leave Hikari alone and let her spend her hour in peace” with that, Akashi-kun had dragged me with him to wherever is quiet and no people around to bug me.
“On behalf of the students of Rakuzan, I am truly sorry for the sophomoric act they have shown you” Akashi-kun formally apologized to me with a humble bow.
I shake my head and wave my hands reassuringly. “You don’t need to apologize, Akashi-kun! Having this kind of occupation, I’m pretty used to it. It’s my job as an idol to entertain the fans and always kindly greet them” I beamed.
He raised his low head. “But right now, your occupation is a student. And a student’s job is to not let her studies get derided just because your career is following you in school” I flinched with a gulp when Akashi-kun replied me that.
I hung my head low and muttered a sorry to him. He told me I had nothing to be sorry for and just enjoy my free hour before excusing himself to attend some council errands since he was the Rakuzan Council President.
I gave him one last thank you with a smile and head off to the library where I want to read my favorite novels while hiding from fans.
“Ah, here it is!” I was so glad to see one of the books I adored just sitting at the top shelf by the far section of the library.
I couldn’t reach it so I asked the guy with a ladder, who seems to be one of the library committee, if I could borrow the ladder from him to get my novel.
He told me no need because he offered to get it from me and realized that we have the same series as our favorite novel.
“You… you read that too?” he asked in amazement.
It made me smile since he looks like the type of guy whose quiet and doesn’t have any interest on what’s new and who’s popular so I assume he doesn’t know me.
“Yeah! It’s one of my favorite novels!” I exclaimed as he placed his index finger on my lips and shushed.
“No need to be loud. The librarian doesn’t like it when people talk in here” I nodded as I followed him where he showed me an isolated section where people don’t come often. “Wait, why are you following me?” he suddenly turned around with an irksome tone and look. I flinched and didn’t have anything to reply. I just held the novel in my hands. “This is my spot. Go away”
“Eh? But…” I pouted and looked around. “There aren’t much people here, and I like it” He twitched his eye that scared me a bit, causing me to step away. “I just want to read… I promise I won’t be noisy” I claimed putting my hand on my chest wholeheartedly.
“Ts, fine. You better keep your promise” he clicked his tongue and sat down to read the novel he had in his hands.
I beamed and sat right next to him; opening the novel he got for me and drowned myself into the world of reading.
I was a pretty fast reader, so I quickly finished what I was reading.
I glanced over to the guy I was with and noticed how low presence he has. He was too quiet, and the whole time I was focused on the story, I couldn’t feel that he was still there, beside me.
“Hey, are you…”
“Quiet”
He’s pretty cranky…
“I just wanted to ask your name” I said quietly, looking down at his name tag to read it. “Mayuzumi Chihiro” I read as he sharply shuts the book he was reading and look at me.
“You promised you won’t be noisy” he sneered.
“I’m not. I’m actually whispering” I answered back.
Mayuzumi-kun gave me that ‘Are-you-fucking-kidding-me?’ look that showed his irritation towards me. “Look, all I want is peace and quiet okay? Is it hard for you to zip your mouth?”
“Yes since I don’t have any zipper on my mouth” I sassed that hit a nerve on his head.
“Why you… Just because you’re an idol doesn’t mean you can bother other people. Why don’t you just go away and go entertain your fans?” He is so mean.
“No way! That’s the reason I went here! To hide from fans!” I snapped; my voice raising.
“Then don’t involve me. If someone hears us and catch us reading together, I swear, I’ll kill myself”
“That’s so exaggerated!”
“Anything but to get bothered”
“Then I’ll do the same!”
“I guess I’ll see you in the afterlife”
“I guess you will!”
After that long argument with Mayuzumi-kun, I suddenly broke into laughter. He did stayed quiet though; and watched me as I laughed like a crazy person.
“Mayuzumi-kun, you’re such a serious person” I giggled, wiping my tears of joy away.
He frowned at me, his mouth shaping into a thin line as he stood up and turn his back at me. “That’s it, I’m leaving”
“Eh? Wait! Don’t leave me! I had fun talking to you!” I chased after him as he marched his way back to the librarian’s desk. “Mayuzumi-kun!”
“Can you shut—”
“Wait, isn’t that Hikari Kanon?”
“Why is she with that guy? Who is he anyway?”
Oh no…
“—up. Gah, dammit. Look what you did Hikari”
Mayuzumi-kun sent a death glare to me because of the student stares, glued to us. It was that bad but the librarian only made it worse.
“You two, you didn’t think I’d catch you hiding through the shelves and be all lovey-dovey, did you?”
This can’t be happening. I can feel snapping of pictures.
