People say when you die, your life flashes before your eyes. But really, it doesn't.
Collin was in a hospital room watching someone getting defibrillated in the chest. But the thing is, he was the one getting defibrillated.
He was shocked. He was standing 3 feet away from the bed, but at the same time, he was on the bed, trying to be revived by the doctor.
"Hello!" Collin called the doctor who was in front of him, defibrillating his body for the second time.
No reply. He tried to touch the doctor, but his hand just passed right through him.
Collin jumped a bit when his hands passed through the doctor. He tried it again, and again, and again. "Woah."
He heard a loud thudding noise behind him. He turned around to see that it was Clark, his childhood best friend, punching the glass pane that was separating the lobby from the room he was in.
"Clark? Clark!"
He didn't answer.
Clark kept punching the glass pane. "No dude! You can't leave me! You're like a brother to me! A family!" He bursts into tears.
And his mom was there, with Clark behind the glass pane. She calmed him down by hugging him.
He looked at the bed where his body was. It was full of bruises and stitches. The doctor defibrillated the body one more time.
He just realized what was happening. He was-
The heartbeat monitor beeped straight. The doctor looked at his wrist watch. "Time of death. 12:01 am.
Dead.
He was dead, and he's a ghost.
He walked through the glass pane and stood next to his mom and Clark.
Clark was sobbing on Collin's mom's shoulder. Collin's mom also cried, but she's been holding back the tears.
Collin tried to hug them, but his arms just passed right through them. A tear dropped from Collin's right eye. "I'm sorry."
Collin can't seem to remember how how died. Then all of a sudden, it all came back to him now.
He was at Grand Park LA. He stayed there until 11:40 pm. The park was closed at 10, so the security guard kicked him out . He stopped walking at the intersection of Hill St. and W 1st St. He was listening to a radio on his phone. It says that there's a high speed chase close by. The pedestrian crossing lights glowed green, which means walk. As he was walking down the crosswalk, a very fast car didn't stop and it hit him. The car was so fast, it stopped when it crossed the intersection. This was the speeding car on his radio because the cops were following it.
Now, he's thinking of what would happen to Clark.
Clark was his best friend from the start. When his parents died, he asked Collin if he could move in with them. His relatives won't accept him, so Collin's family were his only option. Luckily, his mom agreed. He really just wasn't a best friend to him. He's also a brother. A brother who helps him with his homework. A brother who will raise his spirit when he's down. He's gonna be messed up.
From his left, Collin saw two ghosts emerging from the doors behind them. A guy and a girl. The three of them looked at each other. Since no one can see him and no one could talk to him, he just thought it would be nice to talk to someone who could.
The three of them approached the center of the hallway. "Hi." They said to each other, smiling.
"You guys just died?" Collin asked them.
"Yeah." They both replied.
"How did you die?" The girl asked Collin. "If it's okay for you to talk about it."
"No, it's okay." He replied with a smile so she won't think he's got a problem with it or something. "I got hit by a car. A really fast one."
"Well, I got electrocuted. The sink overflowed and I accidentally knocked down a plugged microwave." She said. He looked at the guy wearing a hospital gown. "You?"
"I have Cystic Fibrosis." The guy with her said. "I've been suffering and coughing up blood for months, but now, the suffering is over."
There was an awkward silence.
"I'm Collin."
"I'm Jessica."
"I'm Brook."
"Nice to meet you guys."Collin said said to them, reaching for a handshake.
"You too." Jessica said, shaking his hand.
"Attention." The PA system of the hospital said. "Calling Collin, Jessica, and Brook. Please proceed to the hospital rooftop."
What? Collin thought. That's us, and we're dead.
"Collin Bradey, Jessica Manning, and Brook Wexlyn. Please proceed to the hospital rooftop."
They exchanged their confused looks. "Do that person speaking know we're dead?" Jessica asked.
"Yes, I know all of you are dead." The guy speaking on the PA system answered. "Now get over here!"
They shrugged. The three of them followed what the guy said and proceeded to the rooftop.
