USWNT ONE-SHOTS

Sick (CarlixTobin)

The alarm went off and Tobin woke up with a terrible throat ache and a bad headache. Usually she beats the alarm and is able to relax until it was time to go, but today she could barely move.

"Toby, come on sweetie you need to wake up." Carli her roommate said to her.

"I'm tired Car Car." Tobin groggily replied.

Carli felt her head and immediately she knew that the younger girl had a fever. "Hey Toby you should stay sleeping, you have a fever, do you want me to get Dawn?" Tobin groaned in response

"I cannot be sick, this is the camp where I really need to prove myself, show Jill that I can be a leader for this team." Tobin got out before she started a coughing fit.

"Aw Tobs, Jill knows what you can do, you're an amazing player and we all know that, you need to get better." Carli said sincerely. "Plus if you go out there right now, Jill might have some second thoughts." Carli said half Kidding.

Tobin laughed, but still she really felt the need to show Jill the skills she had been working on and how her game had progressed. "Carli please don't say anything. For me." Carli glared at her, but still the younger midi could make her weak in the knees, so of course she gave in.

The two women went down to breakfast and then to the fields for training. Tobin was acting a little strange, but when everyone that asked her about it, she just shrugged them off. When they would ask Carli, she'd say she had no clue what they were talking about.

The team was playing possession and Tobin started to feel very lightheaded. She started to trip over her own feet and Carli asked if she was okay, begging her to sit down. Of course Tobin being Tobin said "Car I'm fine please just relax!" Those were the last words before her whole world went black.

Dawn and Carli rushed over and Dawn asked if anyone knew what was going on with the tan girl and Carli confessed "She was feeling sick this morning, but she told me not to say anything, she was supposed to prove herself." Carli cursed herself and started to tear up thinking that she caused this accident.

"Carli Lloyd! You know better than to keep things from the coaching staff." Dawn and Jill were fuming. "Take the rest of the day off." Jill said as Tobin started to stir and open her eyes.

A few hours later Tobin was almost back to normal, as Dawn had given her the medication she needed and Carli was there to take care of her.

The two were alone in the room together when Carli shed a few tears. "What's wrong Car?" Tobin questioned.

"I thought I lost you... it would've been my fault." Carli was really beating herself up about the situation.

"Carli please if anything happened it would've been my fault, but I'm fine. Now come here." Tobin said and pulled the older girl close, she was starting too feel a bond with her fellow Jersey girl, one that was stronger than friendship, but that was a talk for another day.

"Next time you do something like that I'm gonna kill you Heath." Carli said into the other girls chest. The big bad Carli was silently relieved that the younger girl was going to be alright, she just might be falling for her.
