The Fun Returns

The memory just comes rushing back causing my head to ache for a minute.

"My name's Skylar," my trapper said reaching out his bandaged hand to me to shake. This snaps me out of my daze and I look at him and then to his hand. He frowns then pulls his hand away.

"Oh by the way this is Doc," pointing to the woman in the lab coat,"Sapphire, she runs the the cavern here" pointing to the teenager,"And last but not least, Marco, he's my room mate here at the cavern," Skylar explains.

I concentrate on the details of each face. Sapphire has freckles spanned across her face with a mess of red curls surrounding her head, Doc has pin straight brown hair and rectangle glasses that frame her hazel eyes, Marco has slicked back dirty blond hair that threaten to fall in front of his green eyes. Skylar, well Skylar is indescribable with messy black hair that sweeps over his forehead and a perfect complexion but his eyes where mesmerizing, a pair of crystal blue that look like a frozen lake during the middle of winter.

"Come on I'll show you around, let you met some people, you know mingle a little," he smirks. I start to stand putting pressure on both feet. I take a step then another before I finally lose balance and stumble to the ground. I clench my eyes shut waiting for the loud thud to bruise me up a little more, but it never comes. A pair of warm firm hands surround my waist with my nose inches from the ground. I glance up to see Skylar holding me smiling. I could tell he was satisfied and surprised how fast he moved.

He carefully wraps his arm around my shoulder helping out of the room. Before we leave I catch a glimpse of Sapphire giving me a stern look. When we're of the room and out of sight of Sapphire, we stand looking down each end until out sight won't let us see past the shadows. There are little, dim light bulbs poking out of the holes in the ceiling. We take a right and walk on a ramp entering the restaurant where I first entered.

"Sapphire's dad own this place. He built the whole thing including the wine cellar," Skylar turns his head gesturing towards the hole we just came out if.

"He went out to scavenge for some food since food is very limited and he just never came back," he shrugged his shoulders.

"He was the closest thing I had to a dad. I never met my dad and my mom, well, my mom she dropped me off hen I was about five. The orphanage was in a bad part of town with ruthless care takers that didn't care a thin for us. I ran away when I was ten. That's when I found Tripp or should I say he found me." I saw a tear run down his face as he smiled. My hand reaches his cheek and my thumb stokes the tear away.

" I'm so sorry," I pitied him.

He sets me on a stool next to the bar. Sky reaches into his back pocket and pulls out a large device I don't recognize. It's round but long. He tugs on a square piece and a tiny computer chip pops out. Sky dives his hand back into his pocket and digs until he find a small switch knife. He looks up catching my eyes.

"I design this myself," he informs, "this protects us from those monsters. Their touch, bite, scratch..." Sky trails off.

"Hold out your hand it will be over soon," he tells me.

I rest the back of my hand in his palm. he places the tip if the blade on my wrist. Skylar clenches his eyes shut while turning his head. His hand jerks back in one move revealing blood as it pools spilling on the floor. My lips automatically curl backwards into my mouth not wanting to complain.

Skylar's eyes flicker open to pain in my expression.

"Just one more thing," he warns me placing his hand on my chin tilting me head up, so I wouldn't look. The cold metal chip enters my wound but strangely with no pain.

"Ready to go," he asks me. I look see his hand out stretched again. Thus time I take it.
