Ebony, Flame, Sun, Cloud, do you promise to uphold the warrior code and protect and defend this clan, even at the cost of your life?" She asked the four cats in front of her.
"I do." Flame said, eyes hard with determination.
"I do." Said Cloud, eyes hopeful.
"I do." Sun was confident.
"I do." Ebony's voice was slightly sad.
"Then by the powers of Starclan, I give you your clan names. Flame, from this moment onward, you shall be known as Redflight. Starclan honors your courage and speed." She said, and placed her head upon Redflight's. She felt her lick her shoulder.
"Sun, from this moment onward, you will be known as Brightpaw. Your mentor will be Spidertail." She said, and looked at her mate. "Ravenflight taught you your skill and kindness. Pass these traits on to Brightpaw." She told him, while apprentice and mentor touched noses.
"Cloud, from this moment onward, you will be known as Duskpaw. Your mentor will be Petalshine. Lostheart taught you cleverness and humility, so pass these traits on to Duskpaw."
"Ebony, from this moment onward, you will be known as Shadedfang. Starclan honors your strength and deep thinking." She placed her head on top of Shadedfang's, and felt him lick her shoulder.
She looked up into the gorge. "Once I was six moons old. My apprentice ceremony. I came to the gorge, and I was made an apprentice. I was so happy. I thought at the time that it was because I was finally allowed out of camp, but now I know the real reason. New hope . New ideas that would actually be listened to. A new warrior in a few moons." She told the clan, looking into their tired faces.
"Once, when I was fifteen moons old. I was made a warrior. New hope again. New warriors, new light. Once, I was giving birth to kits. New light, new life, new hope. When I was made deputy, and Lionwind had just died. When I was made leader, and I was terrified that I would do a bad job of it. Now, letting four new, honorable cats into our clan. This will be a new standing point in my life. I will always remember it." She said, and she nodded to the warriors.
