Lurkingstar's eyes fell on her target, and she felt her throat stretch as she made for the killing bite.

Then her mind began to race.

She saw memories, all kinds of memories, flit before her eyes.

She saw a leader, standing tall above a newly formed clan. She saw the first clan queen suckling the first clan born kits. She saw the battles, great and many. She saw the first leader fall, the second leaping to protect him but too late. She saw a kit jumping around, chasing a leaf. Three new warriors raised their heads as the clan inaudibly cheered their new names. A medicine cat closed her eyes to smell the flowers at the Moonhill. An apprentice lay dying, her side torn. A queen nuzzled her mate, closing her eyes. A wailing kit ran, chased by a dog. A twoleg picked up a struggling warrior. An apprentice dived happily into a pig pile of snow.

She realized she was seeing memories. Memories of StarClan.

Then things started to become familiar.

Deepstar running through the woods. Redstorm in training as an apprentice. Bluebreak training her former apprentice, Goldenstorm. Spidertail meeting Lurkingstar for the first time. Lurkingstar herself watching Webkit. Her becoming leader. And Bluestar's attack.

"Remember."

It was Deepstar.

She stopped herself halfway through her attack. Staring at Bluestar, she slowly stepped off of him. She watched as he got to his feet, grumbling angrily as he filled his amber eyes with rage again. "Stay away from GorgeClan, and I won't kill you. She hissed, lashing out and catching his eye with her claws. He let out a terrifying yowl of pain, and hackles raised. Her eyes, merciless as the tom cringed beneath her glare, bore down silently on the blue menace, and he knew she had bested him.

He stood up again, vision in one eye probably gone for good. Glaring at her with reproach know his amber eyes, he waited for her to speak. When she said nothing, he nodded and slunk out of the bramble entrance, taking his clan with him.

Looking around at her battered and somewhat disheartened clan, she realized how tired they all were. The only way the GorgeClan cats had won was because Bluestar had no sense of organization. She raised her head to StarClan and let out a loud crow of victory, hopefully carrying to and taunting the MountainClan cats. The rest of her clan joined her, happiness flooding their eyes again. She knew that this was the healing her clanmates needed.

She smiled, She could almost hear Bluestar grinding his teeth.
