"All went in solo, all elite, all, never emerged alive, we don't know how he's got all three, we have theories but nothing's confirmed." Jackson answers sombrely,
"Understood." I accept,
"Thank you, speaking of here comes your accomplice now." Chief says as he turns of the screen, "Black Cat, meet Black Stallion." Chief introduces as a whom I presume is Black Stallion, his hair is black hair short and slightly spiked eyes a steely blue, stood a little taller than me.
"Black Cat, what an honour, I've much about you." He greets holding out a hand to shake,
"Are you aware of what you've got yourself into, more importantly do you know my track record when it comes to partner work?" I reply shaking his hand back,
"I promise I'm no amateur miss, yes I also am aware of your track record with partners on the job, but there's a job to be done. We signed up for this life, knowing the risks, we all know we could be killed on the field, but that's the risk we take." Stallion states, impressive, he is good. I nod impressed,
"Good, now that you're both acquainted, Stallion will take you to where I've already got him set up shop, good luck, the both of you." Chief declares, we both nod and Stallion leads me out.
"So, what's our identities?" I ask as we head to what I presume is his car,
"I'm Nate Foster, you? We're going to get yours now, you can pick." Stallion, or should I say, Nate answers, I smile, this may not be so bad after all.
I turn my new ID over in my hand,
"Janet Foster." I read out loud,
"That's right, sis." Nate responds, I smile as I pocket it,
"So, where are we headed to?" I ask my, brother,
"Home, well, temporary home, an apartment, don't worry it's not 2 star, a solid 4." Nate reassures. We travel to the inner city pulling up at a pretty decent apartment building, Nate leads me through the lobby to an elevator up to our floor, he swipes the key card and lets me in first, well he wasn't wrong, it looks better on the inside. Judging by the two beds I presume he got the room after he found out he was going to have me as a partner.
"Change into something business like yet with an air of menace, we've got a meeting with the gang, I've already join under cover as a henchman, I said I knew you'd be a good over seer." Nate informs, I nod,
"Drugs, money, weapons, ammo?" I ask,
"All of the above." Nate answers, I nod and get changed in the bathroom.
"Sounds this guy really is a big deal." I state, Nate nod solemnly.
Due to secrecy for the whole trip to this villain's HQ I have to be blindfolded. I'm not allowed to take it off until I'm in the room where the interview or more like initiation is being held. Before I'm seated I'm checked all over for any weapons or recording gear. I take the blindfold off once I'm seated, I blink to let my eyes adjust as I observe the scene in front of me, I'm seated at a large round table illuminated by one single light bulb hanging from the ceiling.
All eyes are on me, all except on pair, that pair belongs to the men directly opposite from me. He's dressed in a tuxedo, Fedora slanted down on his casting half of his face in a shadow. What it doesn't hide is the very end of an old-fashioned smoker pipe supported by one hand, along with the occasional puff of smoke. He may look like a gentleman but the aura around him gives a completely different feeling, his presence is domineering, deadly, sinister, yet calm with a hint of charisma.
"Name." Comes his voice that matches his atmosphere perfectly,
"Janet Foster, sister to Nate Foster." I answer confidently,
"No, your name is now Minx>" He interrupts, even though I can't see his eyes, I sense him scanning me, probably looking for any sign of fear or second thoughts, both of with I have none, "Your brother tells me you have a knack for accurately judging amounts, tell me," the boss say as he lifts up a suit case and slides it across to me, "what's in this suit case." He finishes challengingly almost amused. I pull it closer, first thing I notice the pad lock. I lift it doing a 3600 scope of it then gently pace it down on the table,
"C4, along with two stacks of bills, wired up to blow up in a bit, if it does, it'll be enough to kill me only and most likely injure the people seated immediately next to me." State calmly clasping my hand in front of me, the boss shows no reaction aside from sliding down a key. I unlock the pad lock and open the suitcase, sure enough, there's the money and plastic explosives,
"You have until the timer end to defuse it." The boss casually remarks, in a few quick seconds I've defused and disabled the bomb. This time I get a nod,
"Good." The boss says stretching the word out, then rises, "Come." He instructs walking into the black abyss. I stand up and follow him, I blink again to allow my eyes to readjust to the sudden darkness. He leads me to a door which he opens and non-verbally invites me to enter, I obey.
The room is smaller and consists of two others, one is seemingly unconscious, bound to a chair a sack over their head, the second another person clad in black. I bandana covers his face up to his eyes that follow me, I turn as the crime boss closes the door behind us. Like the previous room this one is illuminated by a single light bulb hanging from the ceiling,
"Minx, welcome, to your initiation." He declares in a welcoming tone, "This woman you see tied up here," He starts as he walks up to me, "kill her." He finishes handing me a gun, I check how many bullets are in it, one. "Well, know your way around a gun, good start." He compliments.
