Chapter 5 ~ Boston
~Zayn's POV~
Finally, I've arrived back in Spalding. It's past midnight and I don't think I will find many people on the street now.
It's best if I just sleep someone for now and in the morning I'll ask further.
I walk around town a bit pointless, looking for anywhere to stay. That's until I find an empty house that looks like someone has lived in it recently.
I shrug. If someone is still here, I'll just ask if I can stay with them.
I push open the door and walk through the house. It's actually pretty cozy.
I'm lucky that indeed no one is here. Except for a random piece of clothing that lays on the ground. It's a shirt. A clean shirt.
I pick it up from the ground and put it in my backpack. Free shirts, I can't let that go.
Then I decide to lay down on the bed and just sleep. So that's what I do.

When I open my eyes, the sun is already shining. I look at my watch to see that's only 8 am. Right on time to ask around for the frozen boy.
I smile at the thought that I might just find him today or tomorrow.
I won't be alone again!
I jump out of the bed and throw my bag over my shoulder. Then I basically run out of the house and onto the streets.
A lot of people are still sleeping, but there are enough old people already up and working in their gardens.
"Good morning, sir." I smile as I stop a man on the sidewalk. He's at least 50 years old and maybe he knows something about the stranger I'm searching for.
"Morning, son, what do you want?" He asks and smiles back at me.
"I was wondering, I heard about the hiker that froze this man two days ago." I can see his face become hard when I tell him that. "Maybe you know where he went? See where did he leave to?"
The man shakes his head. "I haven't seen him, and if I had, I wouldn't have been here. I would have helped the rest of town to kill that monster."
I frown and swallow uncomfortably since I'm actually just called a monster too. "Oh, well, thanks anyway." I try to smile and start walking further quickly.
I hope not everyone will react like this.
"Hello, sir!" I yell from wide away when I see the next man jogging towards me. "I need to ask you something if you don't mind."
He's a bit younger than the last one.
"Ask me then." He says panting and stops his morning run. I bet he's thankful that I let him have a pause.
"I heard about the incident with the frozen man in the pub a few days ago. I'm looking for the hiker, did you maybe see which direction he left town?" I ask as polite as possible.
"No, I'm sorry, I didn't see him. I'm glad I didn't. What if he would have turned me into an ice statue too? Oh god, I must not think of it." He takes a pause to gasp for air. "But if you do find him, punch him hard for me."
Why is everybody so mean towards him? You could clearly see that he didn't mean to freeze the man.
"Okay, sir, have a good day." I say and walk away.
I have a feeling this ain't gonna work out the way I've expected.
~*~
It's been three hours. I've asked a lot of people and I got the same reply every time. A no and then something hurtful to end the conversation.
