Sunday

Today is finally Sunday, meaning I get to go horse riding with Justin! But that's not until later, I still need to help out outside. Now that I have gone back to public school my schedule has changed, I attend school all, Saturday is my homework day and on Sunday I help outside and now go horse riding. Days are passing faster now I actually have things to do and events to look forward to. I'm beginning to realize that this is my chance at a new beginning-and no one will ruin it for me.

I set my journal aside, and began to get ready for the day. I look at my closet and the clothes it contains. I have had these clothes for a long time, I make a mental note that I will need to go shopping one of these days for some new clothes for my new beginning. I choose some torn up jeans, a t-shirt and some muddy brown boots. Yeah, I really need a make-over sooner or later. I head downstairs and am surprised to find my parents in kitchen, by this time they are usually outside working.

"Hey, what's going on?" I ask

"Your mother and I are just going over the expenditures and the business. Financial issues, nothing you need to worry. Why don't you go outside and start helping Keith, he should be in the cabbage field. Thank you sweetheart." I nod and go outside heading to the field.

****Out at the field*****

Keith is working away, there are just a few more rows left of cabbages. Considering that we do everything by hand and organically, this is considered fast. I begin my routine with the crops and together me and Keith work silently alongside each other. We've been doing this for so long, neither of us hesitate for what to do next, where to go or anything. We're a rhythmic team.

"So how's school going for you?" He breaks the comfortable silence.

"Good. Well for the most part good."

"Haha, Why is that?"

"Well I met this guy, Anthony, and he is annoying as hell! And the worst part is that we're history partners!"

"Jackson?" I nod. "Ooh, boy do I feel bad for you. He's a player, don't fall into his traps. It sucks that you guys are partners, I don't want my sister around some playboy. I hate that Ms. Delgado assigned us history partners for the most longest time!"

"I know! It's insane!" I'm glad that me and Keith can relate so well. I know that whenever I need someone, he will always be there for me.

"So how's school going for you?" I ask him.

He gives me a weird look. "Same as always. You may have forgotten but I've been going to public school for my whole life so nothing interesting really happens on a daily or even weekly basis."

"Riiight, I forgot." Wow aren't I stupid, I forgot my own brother has been going to public school.

"It's alright, hey your boyfriend is coming."

"What?" I look up and see Justin walking towards us. "He is not my boyfriend, why do people keep saying that? We're just close friends."

"Hey what's up man?" They give each other a man hug, that is like a hand shake and hug.

"Not much, just wanted to see if you guys needed any help."

"Sure, we could always use some help. You can take the third row over there next to Natalie." Keith points to row on the adjacent side of me. "You guys still aren't set up yet over there?" I notice that Justin's face reddened a little bit. "Oh, don't take it the wrong way I mean I love hanging out and it also took us a while to get everything going, I just meant like how's it going." I could literally see the confusion drift out of Justin's face.

"Oh, um no my parents are still working on the financial costs so we don't run into any troubles along the way."

"That's really smart. My parents are having to do that now, since they didn't rushed into this whole thing." I feel so guilty, my parents are having to work harder now just because of me. "Hey you should invite your family over for dinner later, we haven't exactly met one another. I mean we are neighbors after all."

"Yeah, that'd be cool. I'll let them know."

We work in silences for the next 3 hours and then its finally noon.

"I'm going to get ready. You still up for horse riding Justin?"

"Definitely. I also need to clean up, see you later.

Me and Keith head back into the house, with dirt on our pants and sweat on our faces, the good ole effects of nature.
