Chapter three

Jai's POV

I really like Shannon and when she mentioned that it was a date, it made me realise that I want to do something special for her if this was our first date. I need to know what she likes so I turn on my laptop and try searching her name into twitter. I almost instantly find her account and see that she recently tweeted that she needed help thinking of an outfit, she's so cute wanting to impress me. I noticed she tweets a girl called Ellie a lot so I tweeted her, hoping she could give me some tips on how to impress Shannon.

Shannon's POV

As I get closer to the park I can feel my heart beating faster, I can't wait to see Jai again. I can see the tree in the distance and somebody is stood underneath it. As I get closer to the tree I notice it's Jai. He has a blanket lay on the floor under the tree, my usual spot. By his feet is a picnic basket, that's when I notice his outfit. He looks amazing, he has the type of fashion sense that I love! He is wearing a white t-shirt with a light blue shirt over it, my favourite colour! the sleeves are rolled up just above his elbows. He is wearing black skinny jeans, white socks and brown lace up shoes. Wow! All I can think about is kissing him. Then I see that he is holding a bunch of flowers, they are white roses! How did he know that they are my favourite? It must just be a coincidence.

Jai's POV

I see Shannon walking towards me and my heart skips a beat when I see how beautiful she looks. She is wearing the clothes that Ellie suggested but I am still amazed at how well she pulls it off. Her hair is shining in the sun and all I can think about is kissing her.

"Hey Shannon" I say when she is stood in front of me.

Shannon's POV

"Hi Jai!" He leans in towards me and kisses me on the cheek. Damn he smells good! I am so tempted to just grab him and kiss him but I tell myself to calm down, he might not even like me in that way. Jai gives me the flowers with the biggest grin on his face. "How did you know that these are my favourite?"

He didn't answer the question, he just winked at me and asked me to sit down. He opened up the picnic basket and the smell of strawberries came from it.

"And you brought strawberries? They are my favourite too! Are you spying on me?" We both laugh at how ridiculous I sounded.

Jai's POV

Her laugh was amazing. You know those people that have a really annoying laugh that is loud and you are embarrassed to hear? Well Shannon's was nothing like that. I could listen to her laugh all day, it was as amazing as her voice. I thought she was going to catch me out that I asked her best friend for tips so I had to laugh it off. I was determined to find out more things about Shannon because yesterday seemed to be all about me. "So why did you come to Australia?" I could see this made her feel uncomfortable, she looked at the ground and cleared her throat. "You don't have to answer if you don't want to Shannon, I don't want to make you feel uncomfortable or anything" Then she looked at me and smiled "It's ok Jai. it's a long story"

I reached out and held her hand "I've got plenty of time".

Shannon's POV

The feel of his hand touching mine made me completely relax, it made me feel comfortable around him. Was I about to tell a boy that I barely know my life story?

"my mum passed away a year ago. It felt like my whole world fell apart, I felt like I had no reason to live anymore. my mum was always my shoulder to cry on, she gave the most amazing advice and always supported me. The only person I had to get me through it was my best friend Ellie, I've known her since I was about 6. She got me through it, when I was talking to her I forgot all of the pain. she saved my life. My dad completely broke down when my mum passed, he couldn't cope. He sat around watching tv and drinking beer. He never cleaned, payed the bills, gave me money, nothing. School started to notice so they reported it to social services and they took me away from my dad. That's why they sent me here, the only family I have left, my aunt Mandy. She hates me and so does her husband, they just let me live there"

Throughout the whole time I was telling Jai this, he was looking at me in the eye, still holding my hand. He gave me that comforting look that everybody gives me when I tell them this, but with Jai, I believe that he actually cares.

Jai's POV

I couldn't believe she was telling me this. Before, she seemed like a happy, ordinary girl that majorly bad things have never happened to. I guess she was just good at hiding it all behind a smile. It's now clear to me at why she didn't want to talk about herself yesterday, I feel bad that I tried asking so many questions. "I'm so sorry to hear that Shannon, you don't deserve any of that. Me and my two brothers were brought up by our mum, she is all we have. I'm here for you whenever you need me Shannon, I'm just a text or call away ok?"

She nodded her head, it's obvious that she wants to change the topic so I take the strawberries out of the picnic basket.

"Who wants some strawberriiiies?" I asked her, winking. That's when she showed me her beautiful smile, the smile I spent all night thinking about. Shannon took one and bit into it, I noticed that there was some on her cheek. She is so cute.

Shannon's POV

Jai started laughing at me and I had no idea why. He lifted his hand toward my cheek and wiped something off of it. That is so embarrassing, I look a mess! I started blushing and tried to look away until the embarrassment passed but he kept his hand on my cheek. I could feel the warmth of his hand, he tucked my hair behind my ear. Was Jai about to kiss me?!

Jai's POV

I couldn't resist Shannon any longer, I need to kiss her. I'm leaning in closer, I can feel her breath. My heart starts beating faster, our lips are about to touch then I'm interrupted. Somebody threw water all over me and Shannon.
