"I swear it was an accident!"

It was just any other day at your job at the pet store you currently worked at, you loved animals so you jumped at the chance to accept the job from your aunt who owned the place. The pay was okay but it was mostly just something to keep you busy and save up some extra money since college started for you in two years. It may be 730 days away but it kept getting closer and closer so you just wanted to be prepared.

You were tending to the puppies when he came in. The mysterious, loner, silver haired boy with his usual smug grin replaced with an expression of panic and fear. You did a double take his way and for a moment wondered if he say someone jump from a building until he came rushing over, digging in his pocket frantically.

"Long story short my sister's hamster died while she was at school so I need another one that looks exactly like the one in this picture!" He explained quickly, it took a moment for you to process his sped-up words and the picture he was currently holding in front of you.

"Did you kill it?" You asked confusion written all over you.

"I swear it was an accident!" He sputtered to explain himself. "I just took it out of the cage for a second and then... next thing you know here I am."

"Why don't you just tell h-"

"Do you have any idea how sad she will be, that hamster was her best friend." He pretested but you put your hands up in defense.

"Okay, okay... I think we might have a couple that looks about the same." You replied with a chuckle finding it a bit adorable how he was so scared of upsetting his little sister. Without replying he followed behind you, almost stepping on your ankles, to the hamsters. You unlocked the cage of one that resembled to the one in the picture and held it up while taking your finger and lightly petting it's back.

"Thank you!" He exclaimed taking it in his own hands. You smiled lightly before walking to the register and ringing it in.

"As much as I don't really like lying that much, I think it's sweet you don't want your sister to be sad. No offence but I don't want to see you back here again unless it's to take me out to ice cream." You laughed, he smirked at you before taking the receipt.

"I'll keep that in mind, thank you Y/N." He said reading your name tag before walking out the door to get the hamster home before his sister did. You smiled to yourself, rolling your eyes playfully you resumed to your shift.

The next day he came back, but this time for ice cream.

Okay even I thought this was adorable, I found this on a prompt list on tumblr. I actually got quite a few adorable ideas from tumblr the other day so I'm hoping my writing will start getting more detailed and creative. So hoped you enjoyed! Thank you for reading, I shall resume to reading Harry Potter fanfiction.
