"Gale, what did you do to that weird girl" My dad, the babysitter, yelled from across the room.
"Nothing. And shes not weird...just misunderstood," I responded
"How would you know that, she doesn't even speak. What are you a mind reader now?" He laughed at my response.
"Whatever" I grunted, getting some water and food out of the kitchen to bring to Venetia.

Venetia's POV:
I ran into my room and straight into the bathroom, locking the door. I started digging through the back of my cabinet.
"There you are," I smiled at the box I found, pulling a small pouch out the bottom of the box.
I looked at the cast on my right hand and the scars on my left. The dark lines parading the tops of my skin reminded me of my past.
I opened the bag, revealing the dozens of razors, all different sizes and shapes.
I closed my eyes and picked one. Taking a deep breath, I placed the cold metal on my soft skin and it slid down. Back and forth I went, remembering the sensation of the razor. I stopped and remember the very first time I did this, causing horrible memories to flood my mind. I started again, this time cutting deeper. No longer caring if I cut too deep. I shivered in relief. I watched as the blood from my arm stained the skin on my legs and dropped down to the tile floor.
I heard Gale coming up the stairs. So I quickly changed out my bloody shirt and put on a long sleeved shirt and sweats.
I jumped on my bed and cut on the tv, hoping he won't be suspicious.
"Ven. Can I come in?" Gale asked softly.
I knocked once on my counter for a 'yes'.
Gale walked in with a bunch of food. He knew something. He knew what I did. I saw the look on his face.
"I know what you were doing" Gale confronted me.
"I wasn't doing anything" I said was a guilty look on my face
"Ven.." he started putting his hand on my bloody arm.
I winced in pain and pulled my arm away.
Gale looked at the hand he touched me with. Blood smeared on his fingers.
He looked back up at me with tears in his eyes.
"Let me help you," he whispered loudly, " Please.."

"Gale. I'm okay", I promised, putting on a fake smile.
"No..no your not." He looked down again,"I used to self harm too. I went through things nobody should ever had to go through. I know who had too. But cutting isn't the answer. It May feel like it's the only way you get rid of your pain. But that's one thing that's gonna cause pain. Pain to your family. Pain to your friends. Pain to yourself. And if you cut too deep, it could kill you. And I'll blame myself becuse i knew you were doing it and I didn't stop you.So please stop. I might have only known you for 5 hours, but you seem like a awesome person to hang around. I look forward to being your best friend. But I can't do that if youre dead."
I smiled. I actually smiled. Not from laughter. I smiled because he cared.
"Thank you. I understand. I'll stop...just for you", I looked at him as a from appeared on my face.
I reached out and hugged him tightly.
"We'll talk about this later"I whispered in his ear,"I trust you".
