Runaway Renegade

The beginning

This is how it all started. April, 27, 2013 Dad was at work and mom was reading 'Forced By Fire By Sharon Draper'. Adaylyn, Madison and I locked in our bedrooms, listening to the sound of rain pounding against the wooden roof, counting rain drops on the window sill, waiting for dad to come home. Then there all of a sudden was a knock on the front door. Adaylyn heard it first, so being the competitive 12 year old, she raced down the old wooden staircase, to the front door. With Madison and I at her shoulders, we tackled her as she opened the front door to an tall, bearded dark eyed man. He introduced himself as Dr. Riefenstahl, and told us to go get our mother, Alice. Our mother politely said hello and invited him in for a cup of tea. He nodded as he walked in, his shoes wet from the rain, but my mother did not seem to mind. He sat on our light cream couch as my mother gestured me to get him some green tea. Our mother told us that we should go back towards our room and she'll come get us when he leaves. An hour later, my mothers pastel pink bunny slippers, that I have gave her for Christmas were at our door. She knocked, even though it was her house and was not necessary. As she entered we could all see the sadness in her eyes but the happy in her smile. "Girls" she began to say as sitting on Madison's bed " That scary man who came to talk to me was Dr. Riefenstahl, he is my boss, he told me that there was this job opportunity, and I took it. "What kind of job is it"? Asked Madison. "Well..." it took my mother a second to answer " It's a traveling job, were I will be gone alot". She continued to tell us that she will be leaving us but she will send postcards and suvnears to us and dad.
She left a week later. Dad kissing her goodbye as me and my sisters were crying. That is the day she left for good.
