A/N - The first few paragraphs are part of her dream, I will announce in the story when she wakes up.

"Oh, hey Annie! Had a good day at school?" My mum asked me when I got home, pausing her cooking to briefly look up at me as I walked through the door.

"Um, yeah... it was fine. I guess." I mummbled not looking up, the tears threatning to spill.

Hearing this my mum stopped her cooking and turned to face me, "It was just ok?" She demanded, eye brows raised.

"No, yeah, I dunno. It was tiring" I replied, still not meating her gaze. It wasn't really a lie, the taunting did make me feel a bit tired, well actually it made me want to be swallowed up into the ground and never come up... it's the same thing. "Not really," the little voice in my head told me.

"Oh," she said, her voice full of concern. "Is that why you have watery eyes?"

"Yup, I guess so." I smiled and met her gaze, she wouldn't sucspect a thing. We stood there staring, my eyes were watering even more and I had that big lump in my throat that people get just before they cry, I knew I was going to break soon "Ok then, I'm just going to um... go for a nap" I croaked "Do you mind if you don't desturb me for a while?" And with that I was gone.

Running to my room, I dived ito it and slammed the door shut. Sniffles were already coming out now as I stuffed pillows and cusions against the door, effectivly sound-proofing the room. My first sob came out just as I put the last pillow in place, the tears were coming thick and fast now. Crawling to my bed, I snuck under the covers and stayed there, letting all my emotions fall out.

The day had started off fine, people ignored me and I igroned them. They sat in groups gossiping about the latest news while I sat in the corner with my earphones in and chewing gum, that was how it worked in shcool. I didn't mind being the loner, it was nice and quiet, and I had some time to think things over; even though there wasn't really anything to think about...but it didn't always use to be like this. Once apon a time, I was the -

"Hey," A voice said, it sounded very weird when it was mixed in with my music. I sighed, took out my ipod, paused the song and took out my earphones, all in my own sweet time. This person clearly didn't know the rules around here. "Hey!-"

"WHAT!" I all but snapped, I checked the time. 1:52pm. This person was interfearing with my lunch time.

"Erm..." It was a girls voice, I knew she was slightly scared of me by the way her voice was so quiet. It gave me some form of plesure, the fact that my mere presence could scare her. "I was j-just wandering if...you-would-like-some-company!" She blurted out.

I was speechless, she had the guts to ask if I wanted company, IF I WANTED COMPANY! With a face like hell itself I turned to her, she flinched.

"NO. GO AWAY!" I roared. The poor girl looked like she had peed her pants, she was absolutly terrified. But she didn't run away. I admired her courage. She was a small thing, with sun-bleached blonde hair stuck in pigtails. Freckles covering her noise. Emerald green eyes that could reflect wisdom but right now reflected fear. "You aren't going." I pointed out, I wasn't so hard on her this time but I still talked in mono-tone.

"I-I'm sorry," She blushed. "I'm new here, nobody takes any notice of me and I thought that you might like to be my friend..." She trailed off, looking at the ground and fiddling with her hair.

I didn't do friends, my reputation said that much. But seeing as she was new and nobody took any notice of her I did feel a pang of sorrow.

"Ok, I'll show you around for a bit and explain how it works round here. But I'm warning you now. I. Don't. Do. Friends." I growled. She looked up, confusion written in her eyes. Then she did something I would never have expected. She laughed and smiled at me.
