1. | Plan A
"Alyne," Ashton coos, poking me every five seconds with his pen.
I slap the pen out of his hands and tell him to be quiet, but he just reaches down and picks it up again. I start to question my sanity as he pokes me yet again. It takes all of me not to flip out on him.
The clock ticks, teasing me with every second that the red hand moves. I'm drenched in sweat - Australian heat is no laughing matter. I watch it with such intense fury that I can almost feel the veins in my head bulging.
And then I hear Ashton laugh.
I turn to face him, and he smiles at me with his signature wide grin. I've known that grin since childhood, and it never fails to make me roll my eyes. "What?" I ask in annoyance.
"You look like you're trying to use telekinesis to make the clock go faster. It's not gonna work," He giggles again and I glare at him. He honestly, truly annoys me. There are no other words that could describe my utter disliking for him.
Luke and Calum sit on the other end of the room. Michael is in biology, most likely having more fun than I am. Calum looks up from his paper and at the clock just like I was. Poor baby doesn't know that hoping it'll go faster, doesn't make it go faster.
Then there is the melodic, buttery sound of the bell ringing and everyone rushes out of their seats and to outside. The quiet is no longer an issue, because it's time to go home for our "Summer" break. My eyes travel over to Luke, who is looking at me too. He doesn't want to drive me home, but he has to. Mom said.
I walk over to him and he rolls his eyes. "I don't understand why you can't just get your own car. You leech off of me all the time and I don't even make you pay," He snaps and I laugh. Ashton stands over him.
"I can drive her home, if you want," He says and Luke looks at him like he's crazy.
"Absolutely fucking not," Luke giggles and I squint at him. "Can't have that. She probably doesn't even want a ride from you. Right, Alyne?" He spits. Ashton gives him a look like, "What in the actual fuck is wrong with you," and it makes me like him just a little bit more.
But even though he makes this face, he doesn't say anything. He just laughs. I cock my head at Luke and then proceed to yank on a large chunk of his blonde hair. He helps. "You know what, Luke? I will go home with Ashton." And off I walk to Ashton's car, which is my favorite thing about him. He owns a red Jeep Wrangler , and it's always been my favorite car to ride in. He has always left his car unlocked, because he's a twat, so it's easy access for me. He just stares at me while I slam the door shut and nearly die in the humidity that crowds his car.
After about a minute, I can't stand it anymore, and open the door. "Are you coming?" I yell. He just shrugs, waves bye to Luke, and walks over to the car. I look at Luke with a smug smile and then roll down my window.
"Bitch!" He screams. He looks so undeniably pissed off it's hard not to laugh. Ashton starts the AC and I feel the cold air settle on my skin. It feels so good. I can actually breathe. I turn to see Ashton scrolling through his phone, and I sigh and buckle up.
"What're you sighing about?" He asks, not looking up from his phone. When he finally does, he just stares back at me.
"Nun," I cross my arms and look out the window. He finally starts going, and I watch as the ground starts moving faster and faster. He turns on The Sound by the 1975, solely because he knows I like them. I mouth the words and I see him smiling to himself.
