Lessons in Love

Ch 6

     There was a scream from the other room and that snapped Alexander out of his fear trance. He scrambled as quickly as he could back to the hallway, but a flaming wooden beam came crashing out of nowhere, nearly landing on top of him. It caught his leg and he went crashing to the ground, everything fading out. 

     I'm going to die

    He thought miserably. It felt like air was beeing sucked from his lungs, he couldnt breathe. He felt fire crawl around his leg and he choked on a scream. 

     What a way to start my life as a-

    A figure leaped into view and was heading towards him.

    Oh, God, Oh God, this is worse than dying. 

    His eyes widened, as the figure came closer. It was the girl, the one that left the door unlocked. He could barely hear her voice echoing in his half conscious state. 

    "C'mon! You have to get up!" Her voice rang out like a knife slicing through his brain.

     The weight was lifted from his leg and he felt himself gasp. Two hands reached down and pulled him up by his shoulders. The girl shook him. 

      "We have to get out!" She was shouting. 

      "But..." He tried to say something else, but she grabbed his arm and was dragging him out of the house.

      When they burst out of the smoking house, he started coughing. Sucking in mouthfuls of air at a time. He didn't think he would ever take oxygen for grated ever again. The girl let his arm go and he collapsed on the ground coughing. He braced himself for the girl to either start screaming or just simply kill him. 

     Neither happened. She kneeled next to him and gently helped Alexander to his feet.

     "Are you okay?" She asks softly.

    Alexander was speechless, she didn't try to kill him. It was against the Law to let a Reretrauqdaeh of a different kind live if they had passed the borders without authorized permission. 

     "Y-yeah, I-I think s-so" He chokes out. 

      Then he realizes her eyes weren't the color they were supposed to be, green. They were a fiery red, the color of the flames, crumbling the house behind her.
