Chapter 1
Ali's POV
It was the first game of the season. We were playing against the Portland Thorns and we were tied 1-1 with 2 minutes left in extra time. I saw Tobin make a move past Allana. I looked down our back line and they were at the half line.I was the only one left on the back line besides Ashlyn able to take her on. I ran as fast as I could pushing myself to get to the ball. It looked as Tobin was about to shoot the ball from just outside the goal box. I took a few steps but Tobin pushed me off the ball so I was back a few steps behind her. Ashlyn was telling me to cut in but the only way I could get the ball now was to slide tackle Tobin. I put my leg out but something wasn't right. Something collided with my head. Twice. I heard Ashlyn scream my name, but wasn't sure what was going on. I was pretty sure I was ok. But couldn't feel anything. My head was spinning and Tobin was next to me groaning. I couldn't move. I looked up and saw Ashlyn by my side saying something but I couldn't make it out clearly. Everything was spinning faster around me and there was colored spots in my eyes. I didn't hear the crowd either. Tobin must have gotten up because both Tobin and Ash helped me onto a stretcher. I could hear voices but couldn't understand what they were saying. I mumbled "I'm fine," but it seemed like no one could hear me. Ashlyn stroked my hair, held my hand, and stayed by my side she said something the only thing I could make out was "I'm here, It's Ok." I knew she was there. That was the last thing I remember because at that moment everything went dark and I blacked out.
