I could feel my head pounding. My eyes felt extremely heavy. I tried opening them, but immediately regretted it as the bright light came pouring through the windows. As my eyes adjusted I could finally make out my surroundings of a hospital bedroom. I look to my right to see the very familiar short haired brunette sleeping in a chair next to me.

"Ash," I croak out with a raspy voice. Her eyes quickly flutter open.

"Hey Alex, how are you feeling?

"My head hurts and this light is killing me, what happened?"

"We were playing the Thorns and we were tied 1-1 with only three minutes left. Tobin was on a fast break and was about to score, but you came in at the last second to slide tackle her. You got hit pretty hard and passed out from the impact."

"Did we win?"

"You got knocked out on the field and all you want to know is if we won," Ashlyn barely gets out laughing.

"Well ya why else would I ask," I say smirking.

"Fine if you must know we won win 2-1 because you saved us from getting scored on by Tobin, but I'm going to go get the doctor so they can check on that pretty little head of yours." Ashlyn stood up to go find the doctor and lightly kissed me on the forehead before leaving. It is moments like this that remind me why I love Ashlyn so much. She cares for me and never leaves my side when I need her most. Like during the 2011 Women's World Cup when we had a heartbreaking defeat in the final. Even though Ash was bummed for not making the roster she was still there for me when I needed a big hug and a shoulder to cry on. I was shaken out of my daydream by Ashlyn and the doctor walking in.

"Glad to see you awake Ms. Krieger, I'm Dr. Kaylyn, and I'm your doctor today. So we did a MRI to make sure there was no internal bleeding, but you do have a concussion. That means no physical activity for three weeks and then we can schedule a follow up appointment to make sure everything is healing right. After that you can proceed training, but make sure the team staff is monitoring your recovery."

"Thank you so much Dr. Kaylyn and when can I be released?"

"You can leave as soon as you sign these release forms and have a friend or family member pick you up. I have to get to my next patient now, but it was a pleasure meeting you Ms. Krieger." I smiled at Ashlyn and started signing all the papers. I got up off the bed but immediately sat back down due to being dizzy. "Woah, woah take it easy Alex." Ash said with a worried tone to her voice. "Let me help you." She helped me to my feet and held onto me to make sure I didn't fall. Before we left, Ashlyn took off her sunglasses that were resting on the top of her head and put them over my eyes. We walked down to the car in peaceful silence. Ashlyn opened my door to her white jeep and helped me inside. She then ran over to her side and jumped in.

"I'm so happy that you're okay, I was worried about you."

"Sorry Ash I didn't mean to scare you."

"It's not your fault Alex and all that matters is that you are with me right now."

Ashlyn leaned over to peck my lips and then started driving back to our home.
