They spent four days on the floor, waiting for the dead that was brought back to life to pass by. "Victor did pretty good," Jake said.
Than made Martina wonder, maybe he was dead. So she shot up to check on her co-child. Victor was still alive. They tuned into the radio, "North Korea has just joined the war, attacking South Korea. Japan has been blown up, there is no country Japan anymore. All Japanese soldiers have been captured by the country that they occupy right now. The United States has said they will give the generals the death penalty all other solider will be used to help the U.S. Thank you for tuning in." Taylor shut it off. "What has our world come to?" She asked.
"It is terrible," Sally said. "No more Japan, how can happen when a country, a whole land mass has been bombed so much that it is nonexistent."
"This will surely ruin the atmosphere now. For sure," Jake stated. "If we survive, and that's a big if. The world will not be the same. Poor Victor here will face hard times building up everything. He will not have the blessed life we had. The views won't be as pretty and everything will be unwound for millions of years ago."
"Because He lives I can face tomorrow, because He lives all fear is gone," Martina began to sing. "How sweet to hold a new born baby, and feel the pride and joy he brings. But greater still, the calm assurance, this child can face uncertain days because He lives." She sang while holding Victor.
"Martina, if God was here why would he be doing this to us?" Taylor asked.
"Simply put, He loves us so he gave us five a chance to live. We could've been dead. If He hadn't given us Jake we probably would've been dead. If He wasn't here I'm sure Victor would've cried during that four day wait. I can't find where God hasn't been there," Martina replied.
"You don't understand what I mean!" Taylor said.
"Oh I understand completely," Martina said. "I just don't like to dwell on the bad things when He's given me so much to be thankful for."
"Well you have your opinions and I've got mine," Taylor said.
"I can live with that," Martina said.
"Guys I just don't know why everyone just can't get along. Why countries must start a war or do something to the other when there is no need. Why can't there be peace?" Sally asked.
"Well, I wish there was but sadly wishes don't always come true," Jake said. "Life isn't always a Disney movie."
The bombs and gunshots filled the silence as the sat in their fallout shelter. Alone and by themselves. Silence between them, but a raging war in the distance. They are wondered in their minds 'will we ever make it out alive?'
