Dylan looked up, but to her surprise, wasn't to scared. She nodded-- err, figuratively. "Uh... Ok. You already seem to know my name but uh.. I'm Dylan Jasmine Hall. And uh.. Tell me more..?" Dylan relied, uncertain with the mysterious girl's response. But her curiosity got the best of her. The girl nodded.
"Alright, i'll give you the quick version then. My mum she... met my father, a unicorn, in the forest one day."
Dylan saw a lovely woman, her eyes hazel and her hair a light red. However, there was something... off about the woman. Her hair was a mess and her clothes looked incredibly old. She was incredibly thin, like a stick. Dylan saw the woman turn, and was shocked to see a beautiful white horse with sterling white hair and pale grey eyes and.... a silver horn sticking out of its head. It trotted over to the woman, one of his forelegs and back legs seeming to be broken as it walked unsteadily. There was a gash at its neck.
The voice, Zuriel, continued.
"He was fatally injured, and my mother was known for her healing. As he went to her, he felt her as a kindred soul. My mother, bless her, thought she was simply dreaming. She had dementia and was dying. The unicorn, my father, in an attempt of thanks for her healing, took over her body to keep her alive and sane. Like this, they shared consciousness, but stronger and permanent. They kept each other company, as my father would occasionally switch in and out of her body, like a ghost. Unsurprisingly, they fell in love. They stayed with each other for nearly a decade, until my mother begged for my father to retake his form so she could see him. My father tried to refuse, unsure what would happen if he did, but my mother torn him to the point where he had too."
Dylan watched as the woman's eyes seem to boggle, a glowing form erupting from her forehead. It was a horn. The horn fell to the ground, sinking into the grass. The woman's eyes spilled, as something else seem to come from her tears.
"My father's horn had been lost. And instead, I was born. My mother hadn't known it yet however, as her sanity was slowly starting to deteriorate."
Dylan watched as a tear seemed to fall to the ground like a stone, not evaporating or sinking in the dirt instantly. Suddenly, everything sped up, and Dylan watched as the stone began to grow bigger and larger, slowly becoming more and more human.
"After years, i had grown at full age.A one years old, my mother was dead, and so was my father. I had nothing to live by. Besides one woman.. Charli."
To her horror, Dylan watched as the blueberry scented woman picked up a now baby sized rock-child, and gave a menacing grin.
"What you were witnessing was my fifth birthday. I escaped that woman, and found out more about myself then i could have ever dreamed." Suddenly the voice came to abrupt stop, and vanished. All Dylan could feel was shock, at what this girl, Zuriel, had gone through.
After who knows how long, Dylan felt a shift in weight, and quickly realized they were being carried. Dylan tried to wake the body up again, but could do nothing. After ages, the body awoke again.
A man stared back at her. He was a bald man, with golden wispy hairs here and there on where his sideburns would be. He had piercing grey eyes, not dulling from old age. When he stared at Dylan, or well, the body, those very eyes seem to spark with curiosity, observing them with uncomfortable clarity.
Dylan continued to stare, her eyes never leaving the man's face. Then she felt something prick her only arm, and realized it was an injection. Dylan's eyes widened, as she felt the needle pierce her skin.
Whatever was in that injection, Dylan felt it burn her. Inside.
It was like her insides were melting, then somehow reforming so much that it was like her heart beated a million times faster. A rush of adrenaline shook her, as she started to get hotter and hotter, the lava like juices inside her seeming to burn her intestines. She felt energy spikes at separate parts of the body, making one of the arms twitch rapidly. Her right leg seemed to have pin and needles in spots all over, while the other was number then she could ever known. Her facial muscles seemed to expand as she felt herself bloat and her stomach gurgle. Then she felt like something was pushing through where the left arm would be. It started as a slight prick, but soon the pain became unbearable and Dylan let out a scream. The man simply stared in curiosity, excited to see what would happen next.
Dylan couldn't stop screaming. She felt as if her heart beat had gone so fast it would beat out of her body, causing her breath to come in rapid beats as if to make up for a beat for her heart. She felt more and more lightheaded, her chest hurting so much. The worst part was, she couldn't pass out. No, she had to endure the pain. Just as she was sure she was going to die for sure, the pricking stopped, and the body's heart beat started to slow.
Dylan felt something strange. As her breathing turned to normal she felt her arms twitch. Wait a minute. Arms? Plural? Dylan realized, with a sudden shock, that the left arm, that was previously gone, had returned. Perfectly normal. Well, besides the occasional twitches.
The man finally spoke. "That arm is stronger now. Superhuman even. I injected pheonix blood so it just may cause side effects. Be wary." he said briskly, not saying another word.
Before Dylan could see what happened next, everything began to rush. Her vision seemed to tunnel, and she felt her eyes pop out of her skull, growing almost painfully large.
Dylan started to cough and punched the ground beneath her. There was too much energy coursing through her, and she needed an outlet. With astounding strength, Dylan punched the ground rapidly, and soon, there was a perfect fist sized hole in the dirt. Then Dylan realized.
"YES! I'm back!" she yelled. Then she felt someone else wheeze, and saw the strange pale girl she tripped over. The girl began to wheeze then calmed down.
"Sorry. The projections stopped suddenly, i ran out of energy. It was meant to show you my past and all that."
Dylan looked at her, confused. "Past?"
The girl looked up, her hair covering her eyes just enough so Dylan could only see a few specs. Even so, Dylan's own eyes widened. The girl looked like she wa about to cry.
"Yes.Well, the rest is basically... i lived with that man for years. Ten, i think. I was.. Five when i was with Ch-Charli." Before the tears could fall, the girl, Zuriel, seemed to shine with new strength.
Dylan looked at the girl confused. She already said that.
"I'm Zuriel Elspeth Ryle. I've bestowed upon you, Dylan, the mark of Elspeth which means you'll be helping me in the future, no matter what."
Dylan looked at her confused, and to her surprise started nodding. "Uh... Ok."
The girl finally seemed to smile.
"Right. I'm going to go now. I've been.. Looking for the horn. If I can find it... i will be able to save my father. He would.. Take away these powers. He would. He has to." Zuriel seemed to be convincing herself more than Dylan.
"But the horn has sunk to the ground, and its almost impossible to find one. When a horn is fallen, the horn will move constantly, jumping from place to place, in an effort to waste its remaining magical energy. Then it'll give birth to a new unicorn. I will find it, i would be able to sense it since its my blood.
