Connor's p.o.v-

Sooo so tired. So very tired. Why was it when I wanted to sleep I couldn't but when I needed to be awake, like I don't know during lesson, I couldn't even keep my head up. My music is the only thing keeping me from sleeping during Dad's lesson, only cause I've memorized every word of Daylight by Yelawolf and the beat keeps my foot moving. I can hear a few of Aar-I mean dad's words through the lesson.

"These keep....identies safe....now....design.....Mr.D....making....for you...." WAIT! Mr.D is coming!?

"What about Mr.D?!" I shot up and asked a little too loud, causing the others to look at me....great.
"Well well look who's awake at the name of Mr.D." dad said,"Well I was just saying that you are all going to be designing your own masks and Mr.D will be here in a few days to take a look and create them as best as possible for you."
He finished and none of us couldn't keep ourselves still.

Mr.D was an old friend of dad's, he was a known cosmetologist but a better mask creator. He made dad's mask and dad told us when we're old enough he was going to make ours, I guess that's now. Mr.D is like the cool uncle who gives you anything you want and is really relaxed about everything. I mean I think that's how they are....I don't have an uncle, at least I don't think I do....none of us know. But he's just as good.

"Now, your masks have to be labeled and have as much detail as possible. It will help Mr.D out in the end. You have one week until he gets here so if you don't have it done by then, then you don't get one until I think you're ready..undersrand?" We all nod in understanding."Good, go about your day."

With those words we were up and almost out, well me anyways.
"Connor, a minute please."
"Dad can't we talk later."
"Of course...we can talk later...tonight...tommorow....one year hence....or now like I asked." He said a bit more sternly.
"Ok"
We walked to his desk where he sat and I stood.
"Connor." He started,"This is the third time this week, fifth this month. I've asked you before why is it you sleep during lesson haven't I?"
"Yes."I replied.
"And all of those times you've said you couldn't sleep at night, correct."
"Yes."again.
"Should I be worried about this?"
I looked up and knew what he was thinking and it won't happen again. I swore that....we swore that.
"N-no of course not it's nothing like that i-it's just that I can't sleep. I don't know why. Just restless at night." I honestly replied, it had nothing to do with that I can assure you. He focused on me with piercing brown eyes, before looking down.
"Ok then, you're free to go."
"Thanks dad. And I promise I will try harder to stay up in lesson."
"Alright Con. I believe you." I turned and exited to room.

I made my way past dad's room, the kitchen and into the room where the dorms split off, one side was the boys' dorms and the other was the girls' dorms. I continued down the hall, passing four doors until the fifth each more significant than the other;the first had a large red sign reading "KEEP OUT" on it with Bodies by Drowning Pool playing as loud as possible from behind it. The second was visually odd as it was the only black door in the hall, Chance loved black for some odd disturbing reason and insisted his door be black when he came here a few years ago. He was always so weird to me, it might be the bird on his shoulder...it might not. The third was riddled in scratches and holes and had a few knives sticking out of it. It also had the genetics symbol for male(⚦)painted on it. Toby and Tara used those as their calling signs or whatever. The forth looked normal until you got close enough to feel a huge and sudden burst of cold air hit you. I always hated Michael's love for the cold no matter what he could do with it, but a best friend is a best friend right? You would do anything for them. And finally my door. Last down the hall, normal was the best description. No sign, no knives, no cold....just an old brown wooden door.

I searched my pocket until I found my key. Since we're not exactly his dad always thought it was best to give us privacy. I opened the heavy door with a creak stepping into my pigsty of a room. Thank you dad, for separate keys. After throwing my bag on the floor, kicking some weights away, tossing my keys in the desk I promptly fell face first on my bed.
"Ugh....finally."I can now relax....

*knock knock knock*

"Ugghhh....you got to be kidding me." I muttered.
"What?" I yelled muffled by my bed.
"It's Michael. Dad wants us in the living room." Great.
"Really, I just talked to him like five minutes ago." I picked my head up and retaliated for some reason. I heard a small laugh from the other side and rolled my eyes as I got up and opened the door revealing Michael. Did he get taller than me? I thought as I looked at him.
"Finally." He said
"What does dad want now." I asked a little irritated.
"Nothing I just wanted you to open the door." He smiled, I was so ready to punch him and if it weren't for the fact that that could kill him I would've.
"Are you serious?" I asked now frustrated with him.
"Yup. Now let me in." I sighed in defeat and moved aside allowing him in. Shivering at his presence.
"What the hell?! You're freezing!" He turned and looked down in confusion before looking at me again and giving me the 'really, you're still not used to it?' face and no I'm not.
"Oh well." He said cheerfully.
He sat at my desk turning on the tv and started flipping through the channels. I looked at him in disbelief.
"Uhh. Can I help you?" I asked.
"No I'm good. Unless you're heading to the kitchen I could really use a Coke." First of all gross second of all I was gonna hit him.
"Are you serious? You just came in here to relax and bug me?"
"Yeah."
I looked at him and saw no threat, he really was here to make the rest of my afternoon terrible.
"Fine whatever."

I sighed and plopped on my bed again only to here the door knock, again.
"Since you're in here you get it." I said knowing Michael heard me.
"But it's your room." He pleaded.
"And your in it too so answer or you can leave."
"Someone's grumpy." He muttered as he went to open the door.
"Oh, hey Chance." I looked up to see Chance standing in the door way.
"Hey." I lazily greeted him,"what's up?"
He gave a nod and handed me a piece of paper.
Aaron wants to make sure you know what to do.
"About what?"
He pointed to his mouth guard.
"Oh the mask, yeah I know I have a few days to come up with something right?"
He nods.
"Cool thanks for reminding me. And you can call him dad you know you do live here and everyone else does anyways."
He shrugged in response.
"Ok whatever you say well....do, I guess."
He gave me a disapproving look before I changed the subject. I know he didn't like to talk about that, I also know what he can do. Not a fan.
"So about the whole mask thing, how are you gonna do it?" I asked generally curious, I mean he already has one, sort of.
He looked at me with curious eyes and I could tell the thought never occurred to him until now.
"Well I hope you figure something out, and if you need anything else, you know where to find me."
He looked back and nodded in understanding before turning and walking through the black door.

I reentered the room to find Michael digging through my bag of snacks. Unbelievable, why the hell did I tell him where I hid that again.
"Hey hands off porky it takes alot to get those." I said as he grabbed a handful of my butterscotch.
"I have to go to the next town to get those, and they're my favorite."
"Relax, you know I don't eat butterscotch." He said as he put them back,"besides I'm looking for Skittles."
"Very bottom" I chuckled as he gasped like a girl upon their sight. Then swallowed them like a pig.
"Animal."I muttered as I walked by back to my bed. Yeah he's fat but funny, annoying but caring, stubborn but understanding. But most of all he's my bestfriend I've known him my whole life and I wouldn't replace him for the world.

A/N- Hope you guys liked it I know it was kinda boring but I promise it will get better, unlike other regular schools Crypt Academy has a training room and arena. Next chapter you'll get a look at what some of these kids can do.
