Poor little girl, in this fucked up world. Trying so hard to be beautiful but she thinks beautiful means thin because thin is in.. but she doesn't see the beauty in her smile. She doesn't see the beauty in her heart, in her soul, let alone the captivating beauty I see when I see her. Sister, look at yourself. & see what I see. Admire your perfect skin that glows from within, & sister, look at your eyes that smile & shine. Darling admire your hair in the sunlight & watch how the rays shimmer off each strand; sister please look at yourself & see beauty & strength in your body.
I see you & I am struck by how stunning you are, & devastated by how foolish.
Sister, step off the scale & stop measuring your beauty by numbers
& measure beauty by the strength of your character & the purity of your heart.
Do this & you will see true beauty.
Sisters, step away from the mirror. Put the makeup down. Stop counting calories obsessively.
Eat
Love
Live
Sisters. We are beauty.

Healing Through Poetry
PoetryA collection of poems I've written over the past two years... they may not be 100% in order; I apologize. There are poems about abuse & sexual assault but I will put trigger warnings in front of those. These are poems about my life.
