Best Trip Ever

We hopped into August's car. We took 2 hours to get to the campsite. Once we got there, we spent 10 minutes looking around. There was a creek less than 10 feet away from our campsite. I was already super excited!

We went back to our campsite to set up the tent. It was a four person tent, so it was a great size for just us two. We put the poles in the tent and set the tent down.

When we finished the tent, we decided to go fishing. We changed into our bathing suits just in case we fell into the water. I grabbed the fishing poles. We baited and casted the poles and I caught the first fish. I caught a trout and it was huge! August then caught a small trout and I laughed at him.

After I was laughing, he splashed me. I said "Oh heck no!" As he started running away. I grabbed a bowl and filled it with water. I ran up to him and poured it on him. He started laughing really hard and pulled me close to him. He was looking down in my eyes and I was looking up at his. There were inches between our lips and I so desperately wanted to close the space, but I didn't have to. He kissed me.

We ran off back to the tent hand in hand. It was time to eat, so I grabbed the hot dogs. August went and got the rods to roast the hotdogs. We sat next to each other watching the hotdogs blacken. We pulled them off and ate dinner.

Once we got back into the tent. He kissed me again. He wanted something, I knew it. I could see the desire in his eyes. Unless I'm wrong.  He grabbed my hands and held them as he looked me in the eyes. He got down on one knee and tears started to form in my eyes. He pulled out a black velvet box and said, "Layne Cannon, will you make me the happiest man alive and marry me?"

I thought about when he cheated on me and thought, maybe he could do it again. I also thought of how happy he makes me, how my best moments are with him and how sweet he is to me. I thought very cautiously about my answer.
